Phil and Friends present- Homeland (Re-Imagined)
Some may remember the original ballad version of this song with the inimitable Robby doing an incredible job on the vocals. As time passed I found myself wanting to do a more 'rock-like' version of my tune, so we assembled the troops and this is what we came up with. Special thanks to the guys for some super performances. It's the top song at: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1050818&content=musicDave (QuantumEffect) Carlson- DrumsEd (Bapu) Kocol- BassDaryl (Daryl1968) Greenway- Piano and Background VocalsDanny (Danny Danzi) Danzi- Elec. Rhythm and Lead Guitars and ProductionPhil (Philz) Doyle- Acoustic guitars and lead vocals Any and all comments are appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Nice solid tones in this one! Would love to hear that snare a little hotter to "drive" the tune....make it rock. Are the vocals a little buried around the 2:40 mark? Maybe a little louder would drive the tune home for the ending. Just my humble opinion here. Nice collab!!!

Agree with Tony on the snare. There are a lot of good tones in this. Guitars sound just a touch hot here. The drums sound great and are really played well.

Sounds really good here. I think it could use a little more punch on the drums, but I like the way the kick sits overall. Really takes off when the electrics come in, and you can tell it was mixed by a guitar player Regards, Dan

Super good job to all. Love the song. I believe in the words 100%. A great message. The playing is really good. Danny did a spot on job on the mix. Sonically, this really shows off the frequency range - good lows, mids, and highs that are well balanced. Great collab.

Outstanding song, performances and production. Top-Notch Minor Critiques: Vocal artifacts (higher harmony) lets it down, would sound much better done by male with excellent falsetto or female vocalist, or both.

To me, the lyrics are the stars in this brilliant production. Phil, your vocal is poignant and real. Danny, your playing is terrific, and I like the energy level of this song. I'm sure any tweaks you make will only enhance this song, but you're already 99% there.

I'm getting a clicking sound in the right speaker in my cans, think it's from the guitar (might be my headphones?!). Drums are a bit flat, could be a bit more punch on the kick and snare. The lead tone is to die for. Nice effort guys, I feel there is a little room for improvement. All the best, Gus

Nice tune. Really good lyrics, solid performances. Guitars sound great, both the acoustics and electrics. Mix-wise I think the kick may be a little "clicky", or maybe it's the frequency of the click that stands out. And the harmony during the chorus sounds a bit odd for some reason... though I can't put my finger on it - I'm not sure if it's just not blending well with the lead or if it's a tonality thing. Minor points though. Oh, and the solo at the end rocks.
