Picked this little GEM up today....

at the local store...

Was talking to the owner (Southern Guitars). When Page was in the USA he stored his gear with Ken Fisher.  Page allowed Fisher to open up his gear and take a look. Greer worked with Fisher at the time and got the low down on the electronics. The Beans switch position is the Beano sound. The Pork position is wired like Page's Treble Booster. It is a REALLY good sounding pedal, got it for 100 bucks, it is "as new" but had left the shop once, for a week. I picked one of the new picks that are supposed to stick to your finger after about 15 minutes of play. It's a "V Pick" Venom... the first time I've paid 5 bucks for a pick but I wanted to support my local shop. This is the first time we have had any store that stocks and sells boutique equipment. He is dropping Fender and picking up Suhr and a couple of other high end Guitar makers. The guy had  favorite two SGs at the shop, a '61 RI and an all original '66... NICE.
I told him I have been gassing for an SG so I imagine I will end up getting one there.
Hey... support your local shop right!!!??

I think this will be next... this pedal is SOME kinda nice! http://www.catalinbread.com/callisto-features

Yeah.. it does both chorus and vibrato!!! Can get sounds similar to an organ and the vibrato is killer, like a Magnatone!

I should NEVER have stopped at this store... I should have just go ahead and picked up a 50# bag of sunflower seed.... but no.... But YES!!!

I said it is a Treble Booster but it is wired like a vintage Rangemaster with a germanium AC 128.

If you like Page tone and early Clapton tone, it has it in spades. I listened to it either through a Fender Pro Jr or Blues Jr, I wasn't paying attention to the amp, except to note that the amp was set to clean.

Rain, I was thinking of you when I saw all the SGs and then this pedal based on Page's Rangemaster and with a Beano setting... because of your SG love and the Page clip you posted.

Actually, it turns out I was disappointed too. It sounded GREAT with an SG through a clean Fender.. through the Mesa Boogie... not so much. I quickly realized that I could not adjust the amount of gain, only the level. Yeah, it sounds great but is the consummate "one two trick pony". I like it but it is going back and I'm getting the Callista pedal, like I intended... I am just a sucker for OD and distortion and boost pedals. This one is really good but not with this amp... too much gain for me. If you want to use a Fender amp and be Page or Beano... it is your pedal.

Oh vell... dats de vay eet ess sometimes. Ya?

Thanks, I am going to try what I have first. I really didn't mean to buy it but am such a sucker for distortion and OD pedals. I have a Jordan J-700; a Bad Monkeya Nobels; ODR-1; and a Tech 21 Comp-Tortion setting out to try... what I am looking for is that slight boost in the opening chord in the intro of "Don't Take Me Alive" by Steely Dan. It's basically a Gmaj7 with 1 and 2 string held down with the pinky... three bottom strings of the chord, then hit a pedal to add a little more drive... that is what I am trying for, just a touch. I probably already have it covered. My daughter has my DS-1, it would probably do it too. I think the J-700 will do it.

I'll keep that Fatboost III in mind and next time I see one, I'll check it out.

I have an English Muffin too and a Jeckyll and Hyde... I never warmed up the J&H but the Muffin is pretty good. The Jordan beats them all though.
