Pics of Strammy aged about 21

My old partner in crime SidStrummerUK found some photos we took at a jam session around 1983ish. We used to spend a few hours every Sunday afternoon in the local church hall pretending to sound like Priest, Quo and Saxon.

Occasionally, we'd use a stereo radio cassette (it's in the second pic, bottom left) to record our efforts and after nearly thirty years, one of those cassettes still survives. I've since converted it to 1's and 0's for posterity and I still occasionally take a listen to that wonderful slice of my distant past, even though I believe I was a little drunk when it was recorded.

I'll spare Sid's blushes, but here a couple of pics of yours truly...

I recognize that cane!  I can't believe that Blind Leroy worked with you guys, too!

He was the best lighting engineer I ever had.  That "Sensory Deprivation Gig" was an amazing experience.  Of course, we didn't realize everyone had left until the show ended and we turned the lights on.

    It's merely a moullette...

    It's very fetching though.

All church halls of that period had the same artwork.

As well as the same trestle tables dating from VE day, and stacking chairs too small to sit in.

    Fun photos.

It sounds like a good idea for a whole thread.  Kind of like the studio photos thread.  Where everyone digs out a photo from the archives and posts it.

    Because the floor was wet.

    (it was a boathouse).

I used to have hair like that.  No perm, it just grew that way.  Never really got long.  Now, if I try to grow it, I look like Bozo the clown because ti only grows around the sides and back.

Did you bring the house down Randy?

The only 2 things I remember from this gig, is that I got to chat with Robin Zander for a minute, and our bass player, who was legally blind, walked off the side of the stage in the middle of a song. There was a loud "kawaaaaang", and I looked over and he was gone! It was about a 5 foot drop, and he landed face down on top of his bass. I ran over and looked and he looked like one of those outlines you see at a crime scene. A couple of the crew picked him up, and set him back on stage. The drummer and 2nd guitarist didn't miss a beat and we finished the song. He hung in there like a trooper, but had a pretty sore back after the gig.
