Picture Cache ...creating slow going

I have to continually delete my picture cache . If it gets to more than about 2-3OO files in picture cache things start dragging and missing in the track pane.
Can I tweak anything to stop this happening ? Years ago I had a similar problem with a different PC and the only solution was a Graphic Card Accelerator but the present PC is only two years old and bought purely for music. It's not connected to the web.

Specs are....Windows 7 Serv pack 1 Sonar X1
Intel i3 3.30GHz
Ram 8g
64 bit

The files are recreated eveytime you open a project. So.... the more you open projects the more you will need to delete the files.

Also, make sure the Picture Cache folder has lots of space on it's drive. I keep my PC folder on a 50 GB partition with the Audio Data folder which is virtually empty because I use per project audio folders.

You can increase the size of the picture cache.

Not at DAW and can't remember where - possibly in Preferences.  I know I increased mine from the default and have no problems now.  I have a feeling that the files are only recreated when the cache is full, which is what is causing the delay.

If I remember, I will check where you increase the size of the Picture Cache folder when I get a chance and pop back, unless someone else beats me to it.
