Sorry I completely fail to understand where you get 3.142 from the 14th of the 3rd 2015.

is this is serious question?
3.142 is not pi.  that's pi rounded to the nearest 1000th place.  pi is an irrational number, but pi rounded to the nearest 10,000th place is 3.1415

pi rounded to the nearest 15 digits is:
3.14159265358979

I think he meant that for people outside the US, today is actually 14/3/15.
Took me a while to get used to the US standard too.

Thanks Beagle for the clarification.

Here in the states, this once in a 100-year occurrence is rather popular with the news media. And a very common format for referencing the date in the U.S. is as 3/14/15. Sorry for any confusion to our non-U.S. based friends.

Is that irrational enough for you.

And it is still the 14th day of the 3rd month in the 2015th year under current earth year measurements even though that is as meaningless and irrational as PI

As a memory exercise many years ago, I learned Pi to this many digits: 3.14159265358979323846264338327950 and, for a while, even added 288419716939937510 to get to the next zero.

Then, one day, at my dart bar for a league match, my favorite waitress comes in wearing a t-shirt that says:

Gee thanks.

Beagle
pi is an irrational number, ...

Thus it's honorary mention here in this place... where it indoobila... indoobila... indubitably fits right in.

(an "irrational" number means it goes on and on and on and on and o.........................................)

Sorry, was I rambling?!
