hi,
a link to a suite of two short pieces in a kind a folky way, guitars and bass are"true" ones ,synths are played with old Rapture and Diva, percussions are from Dpro's expansion pack"Old World"played with Dpro and drums are played with Superior.
Thank you for listening .

Nice work, I like the overall sound.  My only criticism would be that the solo instrument (guitar?) that starts at 0.26 could do with being higher up in the mix.  It's nicely played but overwhelmed by everything else.

    Hi Olivier,

That was a pleasant listening experience.

So, is that one track really two songs? One appears to finish at 2:50 and a more up beat, but shorter part follows, with different percussion. I'm not sure, but I think the bass sounds ever so slightly different too.

    cheers

    Hi,
    Thank you for listening.
Kevsmith81 you're wright,I will put the guitar lead more in front of the mix.
synkotron, actually it was at the start two different pieces but I found that they worked well together while each one wasn't enough to tell a story in itself.
The tempo is the same but it mooves from6/8 to 4/4 which gives the feel of an up tempo on the second part, but the bass have been recorded in one take( lot of rehearsal but no overdubs on this line ).
    All the best.

Really nice guitar playing and take. The music begs for a vocal or a squeeze box though :)

I think I would give just a bit more bite to the drums in the 300 range with a small Q and lower the guitars slightly.

Thank you for all theese good ideas which, though they aren't in my native language,I understand easily and are really " feet on earth" if the expression exists and the fact is that when I do what you suggest,it seems to sound better.
    Thanks again.

The first song has a really nice feel to it.

When the drums come in, I'd give them more volume, particularly the kick and snare. And when they come in, back the acoustic guitar rhythm bed down a tad.

You have a sparkly and clean upper end, but the bass guitar and lower drums seem missing the punch I'd expect..

    nice work! cool tunage!

    Hi Olivier,

I've been listening to both versions... The changes are very subtle. The lead guitar does appear to come up in the mix ever such a little bit. I guess that's with dropping the rhythm guitar down a touch.

I had a listen to your latest song too, but I won't comment on that here... I'll wait until you've created a new topic for that

    cheers

    Hi,

Tried to improve the mix a little bit, brought the bass and drums more ahead and tried to reduce the ,let's say harsh side( actually it is a bus with an exciter plug-in ,Voxengo Warmifier to name it and I put ahead of it an eq whith a highpass set too high so I put down the highpass from 300 Hz to 120 and also reduced the outcome for about 10 dbs).
Not sure if the changes are audible but I'm in a trial and errors process.

    Cheers,

    Olivier

Wow, this took me by surprise.  I love the way you combined the two songs.  They play off each other very well.  The guitars sounded like they were right in front of me.  That's good engineering.  If you want to give your percussion a little boost, try some tube distortion if you have it, or a tape emulator plug in.  Otherwise, you've given me reason to return to your site and hear some more of your music.  All the best!

    All the best,

Nice tune(s). Made me want to go hunt up some if the jig-like things I've written.

I didn't hear the first mix. To my ear the current one still wants less exciter/level on the rhythm guitar, and more high-end/exciter on the lead. And maybe adjust the "presence"; the rhythm guitar seems more up front than the lead. And that snare definitely wants to come up, if not other drums as well.

Pretty easy on the ears as-is, though.
