Ping Pong Delay with Sonitus Delay?

Hi,

After reading nice things about Sonitus effects here, I've been trying them in different projects as much as I can. However, one little thing bothers me about Sonitus Delay.
I haven't been able to dial in a "real" ping pong delay. By "real", what I mean is that the sound fades away as it moves between left and right, desirably tempo synched to quarter notes.

I set it synched to host tempo, and then set right to quarter note, and left to half note, since I want sound to move in quarter notes between in left and right. With this setting, first "ping" on the right sounds ok, but first "pong" on the left does not sound right because it overlaps with second "ping" on the right. As long as I aim quarter note ping pongs, they'll end up overlaping somewhere in time.

I think I can insert two instances of the plugin, but

Is there a way to do this with one instance or am I missing something? Thanks,

Nick.

Kinda...unlink the L/R channels. Set L to say 1 and R to 2 (delay Factor). Then, set both Crossfeed to 0%. Then, set L's Feedback level to Twice that of R channel -- say 40%L and 20% R. <<This last step is where the magic happens Since R's natural delay factor is twice as long as L's, then it's Feedback level needs to be 1/2 as long.

I've just tried. That'll do it.

First pong (left) is louder then first ping (right) though. Were you refering to that by "kinda..."?

    Thanks.

If you need to, I guess you could automate the volume levels with an envelope.

    Thanks. That's a good idea.

While searching on internet for ping pong delays, I've found this free plugin:

    Bionic Delay
    http://www.interruptor.ch/vst_overview.shtml

It does nice things, ping pong delay is one of them. Actually it does something like offsetting left and right a little, so that it gives a wider stereo feel. I'd use it for keys.

Cakewalk's Project5 or Kinetic2 includes a Tempo Delay pluging that ping - pongs perfectly.

I was asking myself this very question in Sonar last night, and I turned to P5's Tempo Delay for the answer. However, it turns out thet the Tempo Delay doesn't tempo synch in Sonar, only P5 or Kinetik.

I use Starplugs Delay for that, some Christmas 2005 freeby I picked up from somewhere (best google for it). Has host tempo synch.

I'm a perfectionist, and perfect is a skinned knee.

    C:

Good point. There are several nice plugs that are bundle with P5 - worth the investment for sure.
