Pitch Bend/Wheel

Hello,

Is it possible to automate the wheel/pitch bend in the track view?

I have Sonar Artist. (I think 2016 version).

Thanks

You would need a virtual controller with the Mod wheel. Open any synth VST and take a look. I think most have one.  Sonar only offers the Volume, Pan in the GUI.
Do you have a midi controller with a pitch / mod wheel? If so what I do for say a Leslie organ patch, is record the track without the Mod and then re wind and then record the Mod using sound on sound to add the Mod wheel event.
Now I'm very close to what I wanted and go into PRV and edit the controller.
Basically all midi events can be automated.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm wanting to modulate the pitch for a Kontakt instrument. It has a "Tune" knob, that can learn midi automation, but I don't have a midi controller. So, you've pointed me in the right direction. I might buy a midi controller or look for an software alternative.

I just wanna bend down the pitch of a long note in a smooth curve, so I don't need a physical controller.

If you want to draw the data you must use a MIDI track and not an instrument track to access the MIDI envelope dialog. The pitch wheel is type Wheel in the MIDI envelope dialog. The mod wheel is type Control, value 1:Modulation.

This will create automation envelopes for these two MIDI events in the track view that can be edited just like any other automation envelope.

If you elect to record the data using a controller, you can convert the MIDI data to envelopes using the Clips > Convert MIDI Controllers to Envelopes... menu option or edit the data in Piano Roll View.

OK so just one note, do as scook has said and draw the event.
But a midi controller is almost a must have for anybody recording midi, Even if your a total clutz on a keyboard you can slow a song down and get things close and then edit. I picked up a Akai synth station 25 for $30 on sale. to use for travel. My main controller is a Roland A 49 which was only $120 and came with Sonar LE which gave me $120 off the upgrade to Sonar X3 studio,  so I sort of got it for free.

I tried what scook said, so thanks. And I'll think about getting a midi controller too, because I think it might help me composing...

I use SITs and edit Pitch wheel in the PRV.
Are you opposed to doing it there ? Its more precise.
You might even be able to use the inline PRV in TV.

Sure, the PRV may be used to enter and maintain MIDI data for an instrument track. Unfortunately only note data is available using the inline PRV. AFAIK, the only way to enter and maintain CC data in the track view is through automation and the only MIDI tracks provide access to MIDI automation.
