Pitch of audio is raised when exporting audio

I am exporting audio from Sonar 2, attempting to create wav and mp3 files. The pitch of the audio file is raised with each export.
I'm selecting 44.1 kHz, 16 bit, and POW-R 3 dithering when exporting

The format of the imported clips was 44.1 kHz at 16bit
The mixing was done using 48 kHz and 32bit which is the format of the bounced clips that I am exporting

I've run into this once before but can't recall how I resolved it. I don't understand why there would be a problem with the sample rate if I'm choosing to sample down to 44.1 kHz during export.

External sound card/module is a MOTU Ultralite

What do I do to correct this problem?

Just wondering...why did you mix in 48/32 when your imported audio was lower?

Hmmmm...
Sounds like it's worthwhile to figure out what for sure happened.

So... when you audition (playback) the audio in Sonar it's normal.
When you audition the file you export it's fast.

I know that the RME can be forced to a different bit rate by an instance of the RME Digicheck software and cause goofy speed and pitch changes when auditioning audio. For example... if I'm using Sonar at 44.1 and I hope RME DigiCheck to monitor the FFT and the RME is set to 48, I'll suddenly be listening to a file that is at 44.1 at the rate appropriate for 48. This changes the pitch.

The fix for me would be to alter the sample rate within DigiCheck to match the Sample Rate of Sonar.

In you case, you have Sonar working at 48. You export to 44.1. Is it possible that when you play back the file exported at 44.1 that your device is still stuck at 48?

If you burn it to CD does it sound normal?

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Yes, the device is still set at 48 kHz for all playback. Just tried an mp3 and its pitch was raised and playback was faster. So, now I need to figure out why the device isn't automatically adjusting to the audio format or how I can manually change it over to 44.1 kHz for playback. I'm guessing that there is nothing wrong with the exported files at this point other than the fact that the playback device sample rate is set to 48 kHz, but I'll have to confirm that.

I've had this problem with Sonar in the past.
It is usually because another media player type of device is holding/taking over the driver.

Sonar x2a
Win 7 x64 // i7 930 @ stock speed // Gigabyte x58a-ud3r (rev 1) //
6gb corsair 1600mhz triple channel // ATI HD5450
Samsung EVO 128gb SSD // 2 x WD Black 1tb.

Just try closing sonar then listening to the file on any other program. That might do the trick.
