Planes in slow motion
Do yourselves a favor watch it full screen in 4K resolution. You won't regret it. Absolutely stunning photography.

Hi, The scary one I remember is the landing of that plane in a wind storm, and how the thing just danced around so much, and that pilot ... no biggie ... landed the dang thing just right and nice ... like nothing ever happened! That pilot can take me to my grave any day!

I've seen that one and others like it. Terrifies me every time. I'm afraid of flying enough as it is.

I tried to make some videos like that once. I stood along the side of the road next to the airport, video camera on a tripod and recording away. A couple of airport security guys stopped and asked me a bunch of questions, checked my ID, checked the videos I'd made, then suggested I stop what I was doing. Not illegal what I was doing, but frowned upon I guess. I suppose my name is in some TSA file somewhere.

I had to land a Cessna 140 in a strong cross-wind once. Let's just say, once was definitely enough!

Thanks for that link. IMO airplanes are the most beautiful and majestic machines ever conceived by humans. I may be in a small minority but I still look up whenever one passes overhead.

I have a small part in design, test and building of jets. I STILL watch them from the airbases and even commercial jets in the sky passing overhead. they ARE cool!

Hi, If any of you ever read "Chuck Amuck" by Chuck Jones (Bugs, Daffy, RoadR, etc), you will get the biggest kick out of his talk about rockets and jet engines. You do know that he said that WB cartoons invented those and they never got credit for it!

One summer day in the mid 90's a bunch of us took acid and as it came on, regretted that we didn't plan any fun activities beforehand. Someone came up with the idea of heading out to the airport to watch planes land. So we stopped on a road right near the end of the runway where planes passed directly overhead as they took off. I'm talking just a few feet above us. Boy that was overwhelming beyond belief in the chemically enhanced state we were in. Amazing things.

A popular tourist activity on the island of St. Maartin, which has a beach at the foot of the runway. The runway is essentially at sea level, and relatively short, so the planes come in low and slow, barely clearing the fence.

Skiathos is much the same and there's a bar right at the end of the runway - very civilised way to tell if your plane has landed yet..... I have one somewhere where there was a lorry driving along the road that you can see here directly underneath the plane as it crossed. To this day I still don't can't believe that I saw how close that was.
