Platinum Samples Content Kit

First - thanks CW for the content! Downloaded it and most sounds great.....

However -

1) some real sloppy work from these Platinum guys. You can clearly hear that they left the snares engaged when you play the two high toms (wham-buzzzzzzzzzz).... Really, come on recording techs and production! Someone turn the snares off when you record the toms.  Do you LISTEN to your work?

2) there is NO china crash per the documentation..... instead all they gave was a very nice 18" crash (that I swear I have heard on other samples....)

Bass drum sounds great.

Loving my X2 and prochannel!

Yea, because every time before I perform a tom roll I reach down and turn the snare tension lever off. Realism or purity take your pick. IMO doesn’t make it sloppy to pick one or the other.

Its supposed to be that way, they're real sounding samples.
im still confused by what you mean when you say "turn off the snare when recording toms ?...lol.
have you ever mixed a kit in the studio before ?
your gates will always flash and bleed a little bit.
if you want a more "non humanized fell" you could always throw a hard gate across the snare.

cant say I agree with your post.
its also one thing to point out your disappointment but to attack the techs at P.S. is just shallow.
you do know platinum sounds are probably the most sought after samples next to SSD?
also punching a gift horse in the face doesn't go over well here when the suppliers are makers of superior quality.

I hate to pile on, but yeah, that's the way real drums sound when you record them.  Drums bleed and that's a fact of life.  Platinum Samples are in my opinion some of the best at what they do and they know how to create realistic sounding drum samples.  If you want clinical drum samples that sound sterile and lifeless, make your own sample set.

And your tone is just downright rude on top of that.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

    Yeah.. I don't know what I'm doing :)

On some of our libraries if the snare buzz is too prominent in the Toms we have done the toms both ways.. but for most uses you'll want the bleed there.

Regarding the crash...  We wanted to mix it up so that folks who own or buy our Rock Legends Kit 1 would get a different cymbal than one they already have.

    Cheers,

    Rail,

Kit sounds good.... and yeah, I'm a bit whiney, I know.... the snare bleed is not present on any other toms in the kit....just the high one.

Yeah, all, I'm a drummer primarily and I know snare bleed.... I'm also a QA person by heart and trained to demand demand demand.  I'll stick a gate on and solve the issue.

Overall I'd say it's one of the better sounding kits I've heard.
