Platinum doesn't recognize Pluggin Manager's friendly display names

Platinum is not remembering the pluggins associated with friendly display names. I get a error message saying it's not sure what pluggin is associated with a particular name. Once I've answered the question then I don’t get this error message anymore when opening other CWP files and the pluggins work. But as soon as I close Platinum and then reopen it, it has forgotten the friendly names and I have to go through the routine again and again.

I have a feeling this is a bug. I've used every version of this program since the DOS days, and can't ever remember having this kind of persistent problem. Many years ago pluggin FX were stuck in alphabetical order. They weren't like the Pluggin Manger is today, in which you can move a pluggin in your custom list up or down.

So many years ago I double clicked on some of the names in the "registered pluggins" window in Pluggin Manager and renamed the display names of my most used pluggins starting with numbers since that would be the first in the alphabetical list. So I had the numbers 1-9 as the first character in the name of these 9 most used pluggins. Over the years I've changed the templates and now only really have about 4 pluggins that still have friendly display names. Every time I open Platinum I get this error message below.

PLEASE IDENTIFY PLUGIN FROM NEAREST MATCH LISTED BELOW (2 choices)
1  L2
2  WAVES L2
ORIGINAL NAME:   7 L2   (FIle=WAVESH`1 Id=1278365011
ORIGINAL CLSID [141AC902-4......]

I went into pluggin manager and found that there were 3 instances of the L2 pluggin in the VST Registered Pluggin list in Pluggin Manager, named L2, Waves L2, and another Waves L2, so I renamed one "7 L2" which is the friendly name I used. I renamed the other 2 pluggins with the correct friendly name. This still didn't help Platinum remember the association.
I uninstalled and reinstalled these pluggins and now Platinum crashes once it gets to the 3rd pluggin error message. I've rebooted and it still crashes. I guess it didn’t like the reinstall of the pluggins. I have an Acronis image I did a few days ago, so I'll just revert back to that, since Platinum seems to be hopelessly messed up now.

This may be a problem for tech support, but if anyone has any clues about this one and any suggestions to try - I'm game
