Platinum only opens one vst at a time ?
In previous Sonar X-series, I can open multiple vst at the same time, use full for comparing settings : It seems Platinum no longer enables this ? If I save a project in X, and open in Platinum, it does retain all the vsts as saved. But once closed, and clicking on it, only one shows up, while closing the previous one. I just browse through the topics, don't seems to find any mention of this before.

See the "pin" in the upper corner of the VST window? Click that. Voila, multiple VST windows.

Yup. This is the new VST window "recycling" feature. Pretty useful but rather jarring if you are not aware of it. I think there is a setting in Preferences that allows you to disable it. BTW... you now also have to hold down Ctrl while Drag Dropping a VST into the Multi Dock which was soemthing that tripped me up in SPlat as well but is actually a pretty nice idea. I hated having things dock when I did not want them to... still weird having to remember to hold Ctrl when I actually DO want to dock but I'm getting used to it.

As Bapu said ... also see 'Recycle Plug-in Windows' at the bottom of the VST Settings preferences page

Quickest way to open additional VST screens without closing the first is to hold control when double clicking them. Or you can disable window recycling completely if you can't get used to it. I kinda like it, it keeps things from getting too cluttered.

After my last (ancient) DAW which had no docking whatsoever the addition of the dock (after buying Sonar) to dump VSTs into that I might want to continue tweaking but did not want in my way was AWESOME. I would always accumulate a mountain of plugin windows that were stationary and a huge pain to sort through or close once I realized how much of a mess I'd made. With the dock I'd still get a mountain of crap but I could get it out of the way in a keystroke and just go through the tabs to clean it all up if it got too hairy. This of course is even better. If I have a floater it'll swap out automatically so there's only ONE thing in my way at a time but I can still dock multiple VSTs like I used to if I want to go back and forth without pinning (which creates the old mess). Sticking them in the dock also avoids having to keep hunting around the Track or Console Views which is the only real annoyance with recycling to me (as in if I dock it I don't have to pin it which is clutter nor do I have to reclick on VSTs just to bounce back and forth between plugs). Bit of getting used to but it's a nice touch.

I'd like another multidock - one for vst's, another for prv's

I'd vote for that idea... but not strictly defined like that. Just an "Add Dock" function and then anything could be dragged into them for specific tasks. I guess this can be done with Screensets in a roundabout way though but I never really use those (even though I should start). I work on a single screen so I am constantly fiddling with what is in view via keybindings/dragging crap around. Apparently they added something in Dorchester that fits some of the more ridiculous interfaces into the dock better but I haven't tried it out yet and am not fully up on the details. Seemed to me that it dealt with the whole "AD2's GUI is too freaking big to deal with" problem I was having. Some kind of scaling or something.

They added a scrollbar.
Anyway not only add extra multidocks, have multidocks inside multidocks. Make trackview dockable, and have ability to lock tags (most people would lock trackview). Also a fullscreen mode for a selected multidock. Tabs could be flipped in full screen either by keys or by clever popup window displayed after some mouse gesture (or shortcut key).
That would make HUGE improvements in workflow.

With my knowledge of programming that seems like either: a) a breeze to implement b) a friggin' nightmare to implement

Thanks for clearing up the issue ! :) One reason I got more screen is to contain multiple vsts !

Thanks for the info above, I was stymied on trying to see multiple vst windows at one time. Yes, multiple multi-docks might be a huge improvement...or perhaps, no multidock at all, but 'windows-groups' that one could place AND NEVER HAVE CHANGED by some weird thing. I still curse every time I close or open a folder at the bottom of 100 tracks and the screen pops up to track #1, where I keep general notes about the project (but never want to look at while working).
