Platinum up and running..

At the risk of jinxing all this:

Win 7 64bit. Upgrade from Sonar X3 Producer.
I opted for a full install of all components, but left X3 (and X2 and X1) on my system.

C3 is brilliant.

Platinum took over like nothing ever happened.
My old projects open and I haven't had a single crash in 2 full days of mixing - something X3 could never achieve. Even Slate VCC behaves.

The GUI just feels better and less cluttered. So does the engine.

Good work Bakers. I was skepticurous, but you take the Cake.

L.

I would agree. Have been running Platinum with a lot of older projects and haven't had a problem. I haven't gotten to all the features, but I really am impressed and like Mix Recall.

    Solid upgrade for sure!

I like Platinum very much. It's fast and easy to go with. I'm a Sonar user from the beginning and tried other brands too, but Sonar is the one for me. Sonar is much more musical than other famous brands. So it helps me composing my music.
Although I experience audio dropouts sometimes in Platinum, wich is very inconveniënt. But I think I'll have to look into my preferences for that.

What blows my mind is I still have not had a crash, freeze, or hiccup since downloading the general release version. I know it's going to happen at some point but I've hit SONAR pretty hard with a variety of projects, including hi-res live concert editing (6 GB of files) and loop library development with over 100 tracks.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

I think the casual user may not notice the improvements that quickly, but to me as an 8-hours per day producer/composer/engineer it is as big an improvement over X3e as X3e was over previous builds. I haven't tried all the new features yet, but the GUI being cleaner and more intelligent already makes me happy. I agree with FBB - lots of small improvements makes it just so much better.

Most noticeably is that it just "sits" - no white screens or any other funny stuff. It fries my brain that the first build is this good.

I am liking the new Control Bar features more and more. The different size you can have for modules is so handy cuz even collapsed ones are still there when you need it and the multi is great. If you are on the mouse there are nine thing you can have one click away. Love it!
