Playback Issue

After I record new music the information gets shrunk to almost half of what the original recording length was.  Obviously when that information is played back it sounds robotic.  Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Screen shot 1 shows music being recorded and was taken right before I stopped recording.

Screen shot 2 shows the same music right after I stopped recording.  Noticed how it was shrunk down to almost half its original length.

I tried restarting my computer twice but this did not remedy the situation.  Did I accidentally change a setting or something?  All audio drivers are up to date.  The system had been working fine for a year.  Thank you in advance for any direction you may be able to provide.

I can't see your images because I need a password to access them. Also, if you aren't going to use the insert image button in the reply window, it's best to just paste the direct url to the image and not use your own image tags. The Insert Image button is just to the left of the smiley face icon. Click that and enter the direct URL to the online image. This may not work if the origin site doesn't allow hotlinking, but if it works it's the best way to post images here.

I'm not sure what the problem is but the first thing I'd check would be to make sure your audio interface's sample rate and your Sonar project sample rate are the same.

Thank you for the reply.  I re-posted the images as links.  I checked the sampling rate of the audio interface and the project and they are the same.

Correction, you were right.  The audio driver bit depth had switched back to 16 bit for some reason even though the project was set to 24 bit.  However whenever I tried to switch the driver back it gave me an error message.

Below are links to two images showing that I just described.

The question now is how do I get it switched back?

This is what I get when I click on your links.

I suggest you use a site like http://photobucket.com/ or http://imageshack.us/ for hosting images. I've had great results with both of them using free accounts.

Is the M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 the only audio device enabled in your Audio Options?

This image here shows that there is a sample rate problem.

In my experience, this message indicates that the project's sample rate is different from the audio device. I'm not sure your soundcard by itself would cause this problem so I suggest checking your audio options to make sure your built in sound device is not enabled and ONLY your M-Audio device is enabled.

Thank you for your help.  I changed the drivers to ASIO and that fixed the problem.  I appreciate the time you took to trouble shoot this.
