Playback does not always work
Greetings! One of those problems you put up with until you've had it:-) So Sonar X2 is my only application that does not play back sometimes. Lynx22 card, asio driver, share drivers with other programs is checked. X2a No other audio grabbing app is open (unless it's just resting). Any tips? -rich

Why is the "Share Drivers with Other Programs" option checked in SONAR? When that option is checked, SONAR will only play when it is in focus. When SONAR loses focus to another program, whether the other program is "resting" or not, SONAR will lose the audio driver and with it, the ability to play.

Seems like it's a sharing thing. So I unchecked it, and restarted it and all. No difference.

Windows also has settings for sharing audio drivers in the control panel

Yeah, been there a few times as well. In the Control panel, audio, looked at lynx L22 playback and "allow programs to take exclusive control of this device" is NOT checked. Must be missing something. Like I said, no problems with any other audio playing hunk of code, except Sonar:-)

Okay more data, this should be easy. If I have Sonar X2 up and working, bring up firefox and watch a youtube video, kill the video tab, go back to Sonar. No audio. Minimize and bring back Sonar. No audio. Kill and restart Sonar, no audio. Reboot machine. Audio again. -rich

I've always had this problem with several audio cards which is why I configure windows to use the motherboard sound card. I use a mixer before my monitors so all audio goes to monitors. With this configuration I never have problems running windows programs such as IE or WMP etc while using Sonar. I know a lot of people don't want to do this because it's not convenient or they don't have problems when Windows uses the same sound card as Sonar. But I would always run into problems eventually.

I think WDI is onto something. I may depend on the type of sound card you are using and if you have one for Windows and one for Sonar. If this helps: I always use and have one sound card installed in any one of my 3 PC's and I do not run into problems
