Please Fix the Defaults!

Please for the love of all that is holy fix the defaults in sonar x1.  It drives me so insane that, despite the fact that Ive created a default template, every time I open sonar (and even when im just using the software and have already reset the directories) I have to reset all of the directories and occasionally rearrange windows and things.  It really cant be that hard to set up a default directory to display on load of the software.  I'm a programmer by day and I just can't imagine that it would be all that difficult to remember a users default directories, synths, samples, and other things.  I know it can be done because Flstudio does just that.  I don't want to go back to the mess of directories that Cakewalk put into the software.

It would be a huge improvement for me.

Thanks!

Can you be more specific?  I've never had to reset a directory in a Cakewalk product. ever.

For example in the media browser every time I get in there is a different directory displayed then what I have set up as default or the synths and fx default to a different directory despite the fact that I have a template and I have set up my own layout in the plugin manager and it doesn't default to that, it usually switches to a big default mess of plugins.

Another thing that it resets is my step sequencer.  I set it up to link each channel to one of the channels in battery 3 and i saved and reopened and all of it was gone so I have to re-set it all up.  This may be my fault though cause I didn't use a drum map (i haven't exactly figured it out yet heh).

There are some other little settings that Ive changed and it seems to revert back to the original settings when reopening the software but I can't think of them at the moment as they're minor inconveniences.  Other then this Im loving the software and i haven't been having problems with it anymore since the updates.

Another cool thing would be global screensets but im sure that's been mentioned before.

    Thanks!

Once you setup your project and get it the way you want, are you saving the project as a template (.cwt)?

If you call it Normal.cwt it will be the default for all projects

Does this apply just to projects started w/ the normal template selected? In other words, i assume that settings on the Normal template has no affect on other templates that i've created.
I find that some of my template settings are not remembered, and have to be re-done every time i start a project. For example, Drum Maps always seem to be covered over by keyboard screen of the PRV, and the note section gets pulled too far over to the left, covering up part of Drum Map patch names.

This happens even though i've 'locked' the PRV drum page into place, and saved it as a Screen Set.

There are other minor settings glitches like this in my templates...it's not a huge deal, but hopefully this will get fixed sooner or later.

    regards

Yes, it would be a "all projects going forward" thing when I said that Normal.cwt becomes the default

    Hi eternal85,

I used the normal.cwt file and renamed it as basic.cwt and use that as my default template and have issues with default settings.  Would it be possible that getting rid of the basic.cwt file and using a modified normal.cwt file as my base template would help my situation with the defaults?
