Please confirm what this X1 64bit pic means...

Hi all,

So testing X1 64bit and when loading up installed softsynths 32bit I have a strange outer window.

I have installed Jbridge also and I thought that both bitbridge and jbridge would cover any 32bit plugs within X1 64bit but does this suggest that anything I see with this weird box is not compatible in 64bit?

All it means is that the plugin is 32 bit and is bitbridged.

Hmmm ok so it does still seem to work but I need the options along the top.  I use the "save" icon to temp store potential presets as i scan through banks etc.

Anyway to get these back working?

If you want it to run under jbridge you need to check "Load using Jbridge wrapper" found by clicking "Plug-in Properties" in the plugin manager.

Ah I see now.  Installed jbridge demo but didn't think I had to run anything.  Yes I've done what you suggest and all seem back to normal now.

    Thanks.

If I do commit to 64bit is there a propper strategy for installing vst/vstis?

I mean I installed all plugins (64 and 32bit) into cakewalk/vstplugins.  I was a little carefree installing as this is just a test but I also installed jbridge to the same directory.

Personally I have all my x32 plugs in the my Program Files(x86)/Cakewalk/VSTs & 64 bit in Program Files/Cakewalk/VSTs. There's no right or wrong as long as Sonar is set to scan the folders. Of course keeping it neat & tidy is a good idea but not compulsory.

    cheers FBB.

And where do you install jbridge or does it matter?

Just install it IIRC that sorts itself out. Once it's installed it will appear as a selectable option within the Sonar plugin properties. JBridge is great, you can even get support direct from the author if needed.

    cool.  ;>

so it looks like i haven't lost any plugins so far.  the only app i would have to drop is "PaulStretch" but I dont use it that often I must admit.  Soundtoys seems to be working here too ;>

I suspected it would be more of a problem making the switch.  Is there still some problems to look out for?

I went completely x64 several years ago on XP and the only issue I had was finding drivers for XP. As soon as I moved to Vista then Win 7 all was okay. YMMV.

Nice1 FBB.  hehe I have to "Google" some of your acronyms to keep up ;>

I've only a dual core with 4gb ram but it still seems a little more zippy compared to XP.  I might take the plunge alright.  (I've done a few of the recommended win7 audio tweaks)
