Please fix the step record window

One of the things I looked forward to when getting Sonar was a good old step record feature.

But there's so many things wrong I don't know where to begin.

First it has huge problems with conflicting shortcuts. You can't use the patterns because when you try to enter numbers you end up switching screensets instead. Ok, so I open up notepad so I can enter patterns there, copy the pattern text and paste it in the pattern list and hit enter to save.

Now lets scroll the listbox with the arrow keys to select one of the patterns I entered.. I can't, because now the focus will jump out of the step record pattern listbox and start scrolling tracks instead.

If you are working on something in the PRV, every time you delete all notes, the step record window gets disabled so you have to close it and reopen it, there's still no notes but it works if you close and reopen it, so why does it get disabled when you delete all notes?

If you enter a pattern like .2.4, the first note you hit will always be entered, even though this pattern specifies the first note value should not be added only a blank step, after that it starts working correctly.

If you have a pattern selected in the pattern listbox and you hit delete to clear it, you only delete the first part of the pattern, for example you have "123." selected and hit delete the pattern will then read "23." and the 1 that got removed will get saved in the list as a separate entry. So in order to get "123." removed you have to select and delete 4 times, and then end up with 4 entries in the list you didn't intend to enter, good luck trying to remove those.

The step record window also has some strange focus grabbing behavior, tap in a few notes and select them with the mouse in the PRV, hitting delete often doesn't work because it grabs the focus away from the PRV, sometimes you can hit delete, other times it doesn't work.

Sometimes you can hit control-z to undo instead, sometimes it doesn't work.

Please give the step record window some attention, it could be such a sweet tool for entering drum patterns, it walks all over the step sequencer once you know how to use patterns, rests and note values, but as it is now it's almost impossible to use and any advantages it has are nulled because you have to constantly use the mouse to operate it.
