Unless you can find a 3GHz Pentium 4 (NOT Celeron) or AMD laptop with 80GB of storage and 1GB of memory for $700, forget it. Keep saving up. You'll also need an external soundcard and possibly a MIDI device.

    Under 700 what?
US dollars or GB pounds or......
If you're thinking dollars I believe you got to almost double your money before you go shopping.
Sorry, but laptops are more expensive than desktops, even more so when it comes to laptops that are capable of heavy duty audiowork.........
Mine cost well above 2000$, an Intel Pentium M (Centrino) 1,7 GHz with 1024 MB RAM and 80 GB 7200 rpm HD.

Yeah its going to be tough. About 6 months ago there were some real deals on laptops. I got a Dell 5160 (3 Ghz P4) with a 60 gig hard drive and 512 MB of RAM for $600 after rebate but I haven't seen anything like that again in quite awhile. Its the first time I've ever bought a computer that I wasn't able to buy for much less 6 months later. If I had a $700 budget I guess I'd get the most I could and then run my old version of CWHS on it. It runs on my old P3 866 desktop just fine.
