[Please help] Questions on outputing audio with sonar 8 producer [please help!]

Hey guys. Since I am getting in to the music and rapping scene I wanna be prepared and good with my software. Now when i am recording I wanna do the best job I can BUT their are some things that I wanna do that I dont knw how to do which involve wit outputing my audio. Now before I will ask my questions I am just gonna say that Im gonna be using an m-audio fastrack 2n version usb (or II usb) for my interface.SO here are my questions:
1. When I am singing through my microphone, how will I be able to here myself with my headphones while I am recording? Please give instructions.
2. How will I make it that when I am recording (singing) I will be able to here my beat (or melody) that is on another track so I could sing with my music and keep in sync with the tempo and time?

PLEASE READ: I also have by laptops built in speakers that for now will be my reference monitors. Will it be possible to do #1 and #2 but use these as reference and just hear playback and normal audio on my pc? THANKS

    1. On the track you're recording to, click the Input Echo button. You might experience latency problems if you're running a lot of plugins, so what I do is temporarily bypass all plugs and lower my latency as far as possible. The method for lowering your latency will depend on the driver mode you're using.

    2. Should be simple. Just plug your phones into the socket on your laptop and you should be hearing everything that comes out of Sonar, including your backing tracks and your vocal overdub.

Sorry if I sound confused, but you state that you're using the m-audio as an interface, but you're using your laptop speakers for monitoring?

How are the speakers getting the output of the m-audio? Have you totally disabled your onboard soundcard?

Does your m-audio have a dedicated headphone output? If it's this one then it does.
