Please help ref layers / keyboard split playing live

I am not having much luck here , sent 2 questions to sonar wirth nothing back , so please can some one help.
 
in fruityloops when using a vst instument i can drag on the keyboard say from c5 downwards to use one vst instument , and drag m mouse from c5 upwards to use another vst , cant find anything like it here , will someone [please point me in the right direction , i want to split my midi keyboard so the top half plays strings and the bottom half plays piano playing live.

    what kind of controller are you using?

    Hi i dont use my controller to split the vst on fruityloops just the mouse , but my controller is cme uf6

    unfortunately I don't think you can do it that way in sonar but if your controller has a keysplit function you can pull it off that way
