Please help, this is driving me to distraction :-(

I'm in the process of installing SONAR Platinum and all my VST/VSTi on a new computer - why oh why does this have to be so difficult, especially for someone like me who is relatively computer illiterate.

The SONAR installation was pretty straightforward. I have three drives (SSD-OS; 1TB Hybrid; 2TB Hybrid) so I've put SONAR on the SSD 'C' Drive and put my project folder on the 1TB D Drive.

So far so good, but I've read how some folk are putting sample content on a third drive (hence I opted for a large 3rd drive). For the life of me, I cannot see how I put the content for any of the Cakewalk synths (I have Zeta, Zeta2, Rapture, Rapture Pro, Dim Pro) on this third drive, either during installation or after. Am I missing something basic here?

I'm having the same problem with Superior Drummer. I just don't understand how to separate the installation of the program itself and the .dll to my C drive, and all the content to another.

Finally, can anyone tell me how to reauthorize my Waves plugins on a new computer? (Solved - thanks Ed ~ post #2)

Thanks in advance

Steve,

Superior allows for placement of samples on a specific drive. It's part of the installation. I don't remember the specifics but it's there.

Waves: if you run the Waves License manager you would remove the license from that computer (assuming you installed it to the computer, there are three choices: computer, cloud or USB stick). I use a USB stick as that allows me to run Waves anywhere I want (worst case, I have to install the plugs on someone else's computer).

IIRC you still cannot specify where those Cake plugs install. There is a technique to move them and "alias" the ne location back to the original location. I don't do that but PM scook. He's the expert on that.

Thanks mate - it's been so long since I changed PCs I'd forgotten about the Waves Licence thang. All Waves plugs are now working on my new machine

Not sure what Dim Pro is like now but it required a change in Dim Pro properties in Windows and changing a letter in the registry to direct Dim Pro to the samples you would place on the Sample drive. That was in the past.

Most other things are straight forward. The large Superior samples/sounds can be moved after installation, if you didn't move it to the Sample drive on installation, and then it's just a case of directing the plug-in to see it. That can be done within the plug-in itself. Settings - add path to Library.

To do it on installation you go to modify when you get to the sound library and you direct the installation from there.
