Please increase the 'silent edit' time allowance in the Coffee House.
It seems we are now given very little time, or none at all, to correct any spelling mitsakes or ungood grammer what we have writed.

Hi, Other than one liners, of which I am not proficient, I write all my replies on Notepad, and after checking them, I post them. Slows it a bit, but helps think things through for me.
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I think a much better edit policy (if this forum software supported it?) would be to allow unlimited silent edits until the next reply is posted, after which edits would be marked. A reply suggests that someone has responded to what you wrote, so going back and editing what you wrote would be potentially unfair to the person to replied unless the edit was marked. But while nobody has responded to a post, I don't see the harm in editing it silently to your heart's content.

Hi, I think the "idle" time, of an "open" connection offers more issues and problems in terms of security, this closing them down some makes sense. On the other hand, it's also an issue with the modern way of life ... make everything shorter, including people's attention spans! Sorry ... just another idea of mine for people that are just looking to trap you into the "establishment" society! You have no say or feelings or anything that will help them change for the better and more educated side of things which include all of us. As I like to say ... "we're not all monkeys on this bus!"

Yup, that's how I would like to see it too. I could even go a stage further and not allow edits at all after a direct response. People should either have to stand by comments they made or retract them in another post if they later feel that they said something they shouldn't have. Might make people think twice about what they actually write if they're going to have to live with it, rather than delete or edit to try and hide the fact that they've made a fool of themselves later on.

I know there are no silent edits for me. It's all "gal dang it!", "well I'll be go to hell" and "gawd, what a dumbass I am!!" And a smattering of curse words for good measure.

Not necessarily for reasons of spell-checking, but I do occasionally paste a longish post into Word every paragraph or so. Force of habit I guess, as I've been exasperated enough in the past when the forum software has decided to swallow my words into the ether never to be seen again. Mind you, to be fair, it has seemed less inclined to do so of late, and even the 'saved draft' feature works now and again. =============== Another request I'd make would be to allow the 'Quick Reply' window to display all the same editing and formatting options we get in the 'Full Version'.

5 hours should be enough to correct the last word of your post. Edit: forgot a word

I struggle with this as it is. For the most part I live in a rather intuitive, and sometimes impetuous and silly, world, but that is where most of my work comes from! I can not sit, and "think" and "create" all these things, because thinking for me, is a quagmire of all the crapola you can think of. Thus, when I write, for example, on the novel I'm working on, one day is ... just write and do not think ... and the next day, when I evaluate it all, is no intuition .... just clean up the words, grammar and language! ... thus I use both processes, which are very different from each other ... one requires "thinking" and the other is all "translation" of that inner movie as fast as you can keep up with. Don't forget that I never knew English until I landed in America at 15, and I still struggle with the inner translation when I do not understand something ... and reread it several times, but the logic is not visible to my translation! Which means that sometimes it seems I am not replying correctly, as evidenced by others, but then for me it also means it is not clear enough what it is that it is talking about ... which I failed to see, as others might as well. Basically, I do not want to do "thinking" work. Strictly intuitive, no boundaries, no discussions and no social bologna to interfere.

Pedro, the perfect place for you is the FSF......where 'thinking' and 'editing' are simply prohibited.

If I had any idea what FSF meant ... but that's OK ... I must not be missing much when the gist of the post shows how I have an issue with not knowing what people mean and say, and I get yet another reply like it! Oh well ... live moves on to tomorrow and then the day after! And posts are still not read!

My deepest apologies........I was under the impression that everyjuan knew what the FSF was/is (Forum Super Fred). Of course since it's inception, it's been evolving into many names and forms that make it extremely hard to recognize for the untrained eye ........but nevertheless, it LIVES!!!!
