Please quit using the directories under C:\Users\....

I know we have the option to switch them but most computer geeks know that some configuration changes can blow that up even though the drive is still fine.

    And your suggestion as to where these should be is?

    Let me clarify, most users would never know the difference here. This was directed towards Cakewalk and not the community. There was a recent story on drum maps for Sonar and using the %appdata% directory. This is a unique directory per user. I happen to have my computers on a domain and hosed up my user account. In doing that everything in that directory was lost, but the rest of the drive was fine. So just best practices here, multiple drives, backups and everything should be fine.

    You can manually move most of these forums (I do this myself). However user folders are user specific, all good applications generally consider that multiple people might be running their app on multiple user accounts each with their own specific data.

    I think though the point is a good one as an option, not everybody will want it that way. If CCC had the option to easily move the folders so much the better. You might want to put in a request in the features and ideas forum.

    Best practice is to back up everything that you aren't happily willing to lose.

     In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

    But the roaming profile is held locally because you are considered likely to be discontented from the domain at times but still able to use the applications installed locally on the PC.  Only settings in your domains security policy would force a reset of your roaming profile.  Used by paranoid system admins to ensure unapproved software is not installed.

    Yup I manage/build windows servers as well...

    <Windows server support hat on>

    As Wookie states  if a roaming profile file or folder is hosed/corrupted (not entirely an uncommon situation) you should have the data cached on your local machine. Also any decent backup policy should restore it.
