Plugin's

OK, I have placed a dll file for the TSE BOD free vst plugin in my vst folder to be scanned upon start up of sonar 7 producers 64bit version. I see it on my list of plugins and in my plug in manager but when I click on it to load up it ,it does not load up. I also have other plugins that do the same thing. They are all their and I see when I do a scan it scans them. What could be the issue?

I just downloaded the 64-bit version of that plugin, then copied the dll to the Cakewalk VSTplugins folder, and fired up X3e, which did successfully scan the plugin.

I started a new Normal project, inserted an audio track, right-clicked in the audio track's FX Bin, clicked Audio FX, VST 2, scrolled down and clicked on the TSE BOD plugin, and it inserted immediately.

Oh - the above also works just fine in Platinum.

Please detail the steps you followed to try to insert this plugin into your project.

I have done all of that except it will not open up?

I set my sonar 7 pe to scan all plugins upon start up. I see it scan when its scanning and I see it on my plugin list where you would insert a plugin in the fx bin of your tracks. I click on it but it does not open. I have several plugins that do the same and can not figure it out. Everything is where it should be.

I suppose something in the way Sonar 7 is written does not like some of the code present in the more modern plugins.

I have zero issues with that plugin, or other 64-bit plugins, using X3e or Platinum Sonar, and both are also Producer Edition.

Perhaps you have reached the natural end of the line for Sonar 7's ability to handle newer stuff, and you may have to either accept that those plugins may never be available to projects in Sonar 7 and continue without them, or you might have to upgrade your Sonar 7 to a newer version (some retailers may have copies of X1, X2, or X3, I suppose), but I would suggest that if you upgrade you would want to move to the currently supported version of Sonar - Platinum.

    Hi richie2rich4,
As Bob suggested, SONAR 7 Producer itself may not be able to support those plug-ins. SONAR 7 isn't officially supported on any operating system newer than Windows Vista, so unfortunately it isn't completely unexpected that you'd experience compatibility issues like this when running the program on Windows 8.

Few quick questions, I'm looking at the x3 producers edition of the newer version Professional.
    1. Will my projects in S7pe automatically move over to the newer version? I do not have any info or serial numbers for my s7pe as a I bought a computer from a friend who had it already installed on it.
    2. how does the x3 pe stand up against the Professional?
    3. Are both these versions similar in use as my s7pe?

X3 is the previous release of Sonar.
The current release is simply called Sonar in 3 flavours, Artist, Professional, Platinum
Your projects should open but plugins may present problems as you will need the same ones in your new Sonar product
Seeing as this version 7 of Sonar is not registered to you you may have a problem getting the upgrade discount as technically Sonar is not permitted to be resold by Cakewalk, nor do Cakewalk do licence transfers.
If you look n the website you'll find a comparison showing feature comparison between the current versions
Since Sonar 7 there's been 8, 8.5, X1, X2, X3 and now the new Sonar release this year. That's a total of 6 versions and the program has changed significantly, it has many more functions, extra content, a completely different workflow but is much faster, stable and better suited to fulfilling its job as a DAW.

Ok I have tried to load up some old plugins I use to have on my current pc and sonar 7 pe. They all worked before with no issues. I installed them and once again I see sonar scan it. I try to add the plugin in the fx bin and it does not open. I know these worked in the past so i know they work and are compatible with this old version I have. I'm still baffled by this . Can somebody please help. Lol. Is there a certain amount of plugins sonar can handle . Example I have like 857 in my plugins manager registered. There are some dups as I'm not sure which folder to delete to minimize the 857 to a lot less. I recently added the Lou poulins amp sims 64 bit version but I noticed only 3 of the 6 I uploaded onto sonar should up and are functioning properly. Please help.

I do seem to remember a limit on plug-ins in previous versions of SONAR that was eliminated, but don't remember the specifics, or which version overcame that limitation.

Cap was removed in X3. I am pretty sure 800+ would be an issue in S7.

I had old waves v8r versions not opening in Platinum 1a Braintree, in fact Braintree would not open when scanning waves plugs, it would freeze up....I had to remove v8r and install the new Waves v9 to get things working with them....Just a few days ago...all of a sudden that which worked, did not.....ahhhha....

Then the ilok thing, and the update, and fix, for some parties no longer use this method of ilok authorizing...run get new thingies for usb authorizing, go do..try to find...get things muddled, and then , tech support.....Whoo!..Remote viewing my system and specs..why?....Because the new did not work either....New driver hunt for audio A & H ...FOUND ONE...Oh thank God for updates, and continued support there of...Yah baby!....Waves plug needed a usb drive stick...it does not work with usb external drives, or Ilok anymore....Moe money!

Also UAD older version v6, now also updated to UAD v8, loaded up also, and now work , which would not authorize in Braintree, when selecting them as old version 6 .

So I would believe the opposite of new Daw, to old plugs, might play a roll, in saying as Mudgel said....?...((New plugs in older versions may not work right either?)).....Hmmm....cheers .

thank you, I will try clean out some plugins I don't use anymore and see if that is the answer.
As for new plugin not working with old daw. I get that but as I said before I even tried reloading old ones I know worked and they now do not work. its getting frustrating as I have a big project I'm doing and need some of these plugins I once used before now for this project.

Cleaning out my vst folder with the double plugins and ones I no longer use or need was the answer to my question. I have successfully loaded all the plugins I need and all work fine. Thank you for your assistance.
