Plug-ins not appearing

Hello everyone, this is the first time i write here. I use Sonar X1 producer 64bit and i usually don't have problems working with it. Also i was using 32 and 64 bit plug ins whithout any problems. Today i opened the track i'm working on and couldn't find some cakewalk plug ins i'm using very frequently such as tempodelay, spectraFX, etc. I did a search in my hard disk and found that the .dll files of them are in a folder named "Shared plug ins" and i discovered than i can't see them inside sonar. I also discovered that i can't enable v-vocal (it is not highlighted) which is in the "Shared Dxi folder", and also that the midi plug ins (arpeggiator etc)in the "Shared Midi plug ins" folder are not appearing. I already scanned those folders in the preferences/vst settings menu inside sonar but nothing new is appearing. I have to tell you also that the other plug ins and soft synths (dimension, sonitus FX, boost11, LP64EQ etc)are there and working properly. I think that my problem came up after installing before two days the X1a,b,c and d patches. Any ideas what to do?

    manlian . . .
    - did you try going to Utilities - Sonar Plugin Manager, and see which plugs are available, and enabled ?
    - did you recently go from 32 bit to 64 bit Sonar, as some older plugins (esp DXi) are not workable in 64 bit ?
    - what about Preferences - Folder Locations settings, perhaps in the upgrades some folder locations changed ?
    - did you set a Windows system restore point, before the upgrades ?
    - seems my answer is a bunch of questions, let us know how it goes, I'm also a big believer in Cakewalk's
tech support, they're the ones with the real answers . . . just takes a bit of time

You probably know this already, but V-Vocal isn't an Effect that you can insert into the Fx Box - it's a process that you apply to clips by right-clicking the clip

    Try bounce to clip first

    This sometimes helps.

Select the section of the clip you want to work with and then right click to get to V-Vocal. Then you should be able to modify the section of the clip you selected.

I solved my problem by uninstalling both X1 versions (64&32bit), reinstalling only the 32 bit version. Now everything is there and working fine (the v-vocal too). I guess i don't have to reinstall the 64 bit version again since i can get my job done with the 32bit. I hope i'm not missing much from the 64bit functions, anyway i don't know yet why (practically) 64 is better from 32 since i had this issues with it. Thanks for your replies greetings from Greece...

The major benefit 64 bit provides is the additional RAM your system will be able to recognise.

32 bit systems are limited to around 3Gb - by the time Windows uses what it wants, it leaves Sonar with around 2Gb.

This might be fine for you if you don't run massive sample streaming libraries or envisahe running projects with huge track counts and/or masses of plugins, but if you do, you'll want to install the 64 bit version.
I don/t know how much RAM is on your system, but be aware you will run into a brick wall at some point.

Thanks, I'll remember that... For now I think I'll be fine since i don't have any huge project in progress...
