Hmmm.

Can't be "2)", 'cause I'm susplishious of anyone who would revise a poll.

But "C-", despite the "C" and the description, sounds like it might diminish the old bapu, so I'm 'splishious of that too.

And I'm 'splishious of "a.", just 'cause there's nothing apparently 'splicious about it.

I'm really beginning to think this whole poll thing was flawed from the start.

I'm gonna blame the forum software.

I'm 'splishious of Roman Numerals 'cause I don't know how to convert "MMXII" into binary.

I'm changing my vote to a big "YES" now.

I have seen the first signs of the true unfunny that is worthy of the old Bapu.

Re:Poll: Bring back the old Bapu? 2012/04/20 23:38:59 (permalink)
OK.  Honest answer: somewhere between A and 2.  My gut feeling is that if things had just been toned down a bit (not eliminated, just less) perhaps the old CH would still be standing (instead of just smoldering ashes).

OTOH, there is no pleasing everyone, and no matter what was done, some would likely have not been pleased, and someone would have poured out gasoline and lit a match.

More seriously, what do you - Bapu - feel is most appropriate, in view of what happened?

If you think "The Bapu" would better serve where you want to be going forward in terms of your posting, stay with it.  If you would prefer to go back to plain ol' Bapu, that is ok too (if you stay with the new could I have your 40,326,768,479,231,073,010 posts?  Please, can I, can I?).

But, I tend to think that using "The Bapu" might keep the negative disaster that happened more in mind, and whatever short-term benefits the new name would provide would be far outweighed by the long-term ongoing association with the CH firestorm event.

Of course you could be inclusive and go with "Bapu, the Bapu".

Seriously, I would caution against C-.  However badly it was handled - and IMO, it could not have been handled much worse - it is helpful to look at criticism, apart from the manner it was given, and see if there might have been some validity to it on some level.

Humanly, it is so easy to get caught up in the fun one is having, and lose sight of some of the possible ramifications (even when the fun is good, simple, harmless fun).

Note: it is important that "thou shalt not have fun" not become rule #1, rule #2, rule #3... rule #176 of the new CH - even if some might prefer the CH to go somewhat in that direction.
