Pop and crackles when powering off pc
Hi everyone does anyone know why when I turn my laptop off my monitors click pop and crack ? I have a Alienware m18x and Rme baby face with Yamaha studio monitors plus Yamaha sub hs10w. If I unplug the 2 usbs that connect the baby face to the ic then it goes away . Is there anything else I can do instead of unplugging the usb everytime ? I do have a power board which the laptop is a master to switch everything else off when it powers down , though I am sure this has nothing to do with it because of the usb fix I already mentioned , I also want to say that I have turned the volum down in total is and on pc but that doesn't work . Thanks

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES. DID TRY THE VOLUME IN TOTAL MIX SND WIN VOL BUT STILL POPS .
ANYWAYS FOUND THE PROBLEM , ON THE RME BABYFACE CABLE THERE ARE 2 USB PLUGS FOR POWER , I HAD 1 PLUGED INTO USB 2 AND THE OTHER INTO MY SATA ON THE SIDE OF THE LAPTOP - anyways I swapped from Sara to a usb2 and now everything starts and shuts down without any rice bubbles !!!

Those E-SATA ports are meant to be combo (both usb2 and sata), but as you found out, some USB devices don't "appreciate" the e-sata spec and will tell you so.

If you are talking about a brief sharp pop or crack, that is almost certainly an analog phenomenon related to cutting the voltage to the speakers. You will often get that effect by just unplugging a live speaker as the stressed diaphragm is suddenly released from the tension of the magnetic field and rapidly returns to its neutral position.

Things are working perfectly start and stop Win 10 no pops anymore , i have just unplugged the second usb cable from the babyface ,
I do want to add one more thing though , i have a Coolermaster sf 19 storm under my laptop ,so i connected the babyface usb to the coolermaster extra usbs! and the speakers start to hum, so i am leaving that second babyface usb unplugged forever and ever now .(:

No matter what, it has always been best practice to
Turn the interfaces volume down first, this is why I like mine, it has a big volume knob.
It is always turned down until I need it up.
Last thing I want happening is to blow up my NMS10's.

Power ON! mains->thing that makes the noise->thing that amplifies the noise->thing that shakes the air Power OFF! thing that shakes the air->thing that amplifies the noise->thing that makes the noise->mains If 'thing that shakes the air' is passive, then turn down the volume control on the 'thing that amplifies the noise' first before turning it on or off.

Turn speakers on last and off first. That way, no pops. Pops aren't just the cone returning to rest, the transients generated by power being suddenly applied or removed can be pretty big once amplified and don't do speakers much good at all.
As for two babyfaces, don't know if it will work, but have you tried using a USB hub? Neither will be using anything like half USB bandwidth so it might just work. Or linking them via ADAT or SPDIF?
