Possible to have key-change in different track ?

Let say I have written a midi-track melody in the concert key of C, and I like to have the score transposed for Eb (alto sax) and Bb (tenor / soprano sax) instruments. I can copy the midi track into 2 new track and use the transpose key to make it Eb/Bb.

For Eb inst, I will transpose it to key of A (and I like to see it in staff view as key of A (3 #s).
For Bb inst, I will transpose it to key of D (and I like to see it in staff view as key of D (2 #s).

Is the above possible ?

Yes, at least it works for me. When I transpose parts "real-time" (with the transpose edit in the track information pop-up), the key signatures for them change in the staff view. (This appears to be the ONLY way to get mixed signatures in staff view.) I've worked mostly with strings, but also the occasional horn in F, so I am assuming your woods will follow suit.

In Sonar 8.5 you can change the key a Midi track plays in by changing the key in the track properties. This does not change how the notes appear on the staff. Transposing the Midi notes will change both the key the track plays in and how the music appears on the staff. Using a combination of adjusting the track properties key and the midi note transposition you can have the notes appear in any key you want and have the music playback in a different key. So if you have written a part in Concert C and only want the notes to be transposed to Bb but don't want the actual pitch of the notes to change, you would transpose the notes down a whole step, change the Key Signature to Bb, and then change the Track Properties Key to +2.

    To Czyky and Chappel,

Thanks for the tip. Initially, I was looking at the wrong place (Project - Insert Meter/Key Change) which change all tracks key at once.

I can now view mixed keys in staff view.

    Cheers!
