Post your favorite crockpot recipes!
Looking for cooking alternatives, I finally got my big crockpot out of storage. I've got a few recipes I'll want to try using the crockpot, but thought I'd see if anyone already has a few favorites to try.

BTW - The first recipe I want to convert is this: - About 3 lbs. Pot Chuck Roast - Four potatoes cut into 8ths - Several carrots quartered lengthwise then cut in about 3" portions - Two onions cut into 8ths - Two packages of Lipton Beefy Onion soup mix - Two cloves of garlic cut lengthwise into several pieces Using a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, pour one of the soup mixes onto the foil. Put the meat on top of the soup mix and puncture holes in the top. Put the garlic pieces into the holes then cover all of the meat with the second packet of soup mix. Surround the meat with the vegetables and wrap it up well. Put this foil package onto a baking sheet, cookie sheet or foil-lined oven shelf ('cause some liquid WILL find a way out while cooking) and bake at 350 degrees F for about three hours. Simples!

From what I've heard about their effects, I believe eating it is what should be forbidden! (At least for those of us with weak stomachs. LOL)

Ok, for a true crock pot recipe, why isn't a crock pot one of the ingredients?

I actually make killer beer weenies for work buffets and Super Bowl parties. I take two packages of hot dogs, 48 oz. of ketchup, one bottle of Samuel Adams (or a micro brew like Drop Top), marjoram, bay leaves, garlic, onions and little Karo Syrup. Cook on low for about three hours and try not to steal too many of them as they cook. Heh...

"Baked" Potatoes Wash up a couple, wrap them in foil and put then in the crock just like that for 8 hours on low. When you get home from work they will be as if you baked them in the oven. Perfect.

you can put just about any meat into a crock pot with potatoes, carrots, onions, some mushroom soup, and a few ****es like salt & pepper...... turn it on and come back a few hours later to a great meal. Look... If I can do it, anybody can do it. I chose 2 pheasants I shot on a hunt, and cooked them up. Man was that good. And so simple to do. My wife does those pot roasts and slow cooks them overnight..... you start to get the aroma about 3am...... ummmmmmm ummmmm.....

Most anything of a vegetable nature combined with a meat. Extrapolate a sauce from things you have on hand, wait 8 hours . The results are usually quite good. I love chili in a crockpot, but then, I would probably eat chili off the floor( only if that became necessary).Lowered expectations produce pleasing results.

Here's one you might like: Crocodile kebabs 100 gm crocodile boneless tail per serve 1/4 pawpaw 60 ml white wine Olive oil Bananas Slice crocodile tail fillet into 3/8-1/2 inch (10-15 mm) medallions across the grain. Thread medallions onto wet bamboo kebab sticks. Crush pawpaw into a flat casserole dish, adding wine and a splash of olive oil. Add the kebabs making sure they are completely covered and refrigerate for 30 minutes. To cook, pre-heat chargrill-style BBQ, eg an open grill using rocks/coal, not a plate. Place kebabs over coals and cook until just browned. Do not overcook. Place on a plate in a warm place for the same amount of time it took to cook the kebabs. To cook bananas, allow 1 banana per serve. Use firm, just off bright yellow bananas. Do not peel, cut lengthways and sprinkle brown sugar and nutmeg or ginger over the sliced surface and BBQ without turning. The coating will melt and the soft banana can be served whole. Prepare a platter with barbecued bananas placed around a dish, place kebabs in the centre of the platter and serve immediately with a cold cucumber and yoghurt salad with some crusty fresh bread. But 1st you'll have to catch the li'l bugger.

A serious response this time: Another idea to consider in addition to meat + veggies, might be meat + fruit, especially dried apricots or prunes or possibly raisins. The fruit adds a sweetness to the meat and the fruit tastes rather meaty. Quite a bit of Middle Eastern cooking combines fruit and meat (think Tagine type recipes). Another addition to consider to the above would be slivered almonds.

Put the chicken and other stuff on whole wheat flour tortillas, roll them up and eat! I know it isn't a crockpot meal but it could be if you slow cook your own meat instead of buying it... good and easy!! J

It seems to me that if anyone actually chose to use racial epithets or profanity in their posts, the community would shun them after giving a thrashing and the abuser would end up banned. Here's my chili recipe for the crockpot. In a frying pan, brown up a pound of hamburger, and diced onions, 3-4 stalks of celery diced, and green peppers if your like. add one or two packages of McCormick's chili seasoning. 1- can of kidney or chili beans 1- large can of diced tomatoes Jalepeno peppers if you want a little kick to it add a little sugar if you like your chili sweet. Put all of the above into a crockpot stir it up well and cook on high for 3-5 hours, stirring once every half hour. Enjoy !!
