Nice, I wouldn't call it country though. It felt more like a sound track. I could see a nice video flying over Hawaii when I listened :-) My son liked it too.

Dan, this is a beautiful guitar instrumental. I enjoyed the sparkling tone of the guitar and the clean mix. BTW, I actually listened to it?

Hi Dan. I was only able to listen on my phone, so I can't speak as far as the mix goes. Although, it sounded very good on my phone! I thought the music was very uplifting. I enjoyed the slidey Hawaiian kinda solo guitar I was hearing. And the drums sounded good to me also. The snare had a nice crack to it. Nice job!

The melodies in this are really good mate, the intro guitar picking is beautiful. I did think that the pads/string synths were too up front ALL the time (certainly at the first half of the song), they should at times be sent right back and let that piano come out in parts IMO. The melodic arrangement is really impressive and the soundscape created is true to the theme I reckon. Ill be checking out your posts again. Cian

Thanks for the feedback. I have been thinking the the piano did get pushed too far back as well. I'm actually not completely happy about where the piano is spatially either. I'll have to play with the mix and see where else it might fit. Regards, Dan

It definitely was Dan, that's a gorgeous sound. Really like this track, very uplifting and lush sounding. Bass lines are good too, melodic and tasteful. I'd say you've spent quite some time arranging the parts in this tune and it's really paid off.

Just had a listen... Cool tune! Obviously not a lot I can say from a technical standpoint (other than that it sounds great to my neophyte ears) but really great lush/full sound. Great playing, arrangement, and a really cool vibe... definitely reminds me of the lushness of Hawaii in general. I assume you live there? I used to live off Nuuanu and worked just across from Aloha Tower. Ahhh the good 'ol days....

It was my first full production using the Waves SSL on every track and the compression is so smooth that I may have pushed it farther than I thought on some tracks. I had only experimented with it before this. Definitely need to keep this in mind for the future. Usually, I use PC or "The Glue". Thanks for the feedback! Regards, Dan

Dan, Understood, I am a big fan of the Waves SSL stuff. Your result is very, very good. I wouldn't change anything about the top end of your mix. The drums and bass are really the most affected by the compression to my ears. Please feel free to use or ignore the following information regarding Waves SSL. Having experimented quite a bit with different scenarios, I have found the best result when utilizing the Waves SSL Channel on every track is to go a bit lighter on the track compression and feed the tracks into an Instrument Bus running the SSL Bus Compressor and a Tape Emulator of your choice (I use the Waves Kramer Tape or J37). The Bus compressor seems to give more weight to the combined tracks than the individual track compression, and, locks the parts together nicely. The SSL Bus Compressor with the Tape gives the bass and drums a nice low end punch and the Rhythm guitar a bit more substance too. Typically I would have a Drum, Bass, Rhythm Guitar and Lead guitar Bus, Piano/Organ, strings, etc.. all with the SSL Bus Compressor inserted. PS, Listened to this tune about 6 times this afternoon, superb.... Regards
