Thanks so much to each and everyone of you for listening, commenting and helping with much appreciated input, observations, good suggestions and advice.  It's also really great to see so many of the old gang back round here on the forum!

I'm still working on this one and also trying to find more time to get in the studio to listen to a bunch of reference mixes and try to re-adjust and regain my "studio ears" after the many long months of absence and the multiple changes to my alternate listening environments.

Sincere gratitude to all of you for your valuable help!

Best Wishes,
Bob

Bob,
I havn't heard one of yours in a while. But yeah, this is more of your total kick-butt rock. The guitars sound great. I like the solo guitar riffing just before the lead GTR part.

Hot stuff!

Cheers,

Bert

Bob, I listened again and it seems that the bass is a bit down in the mix but I never know from day to day if it's me or the music.  Everything is so solid it just Seemed a bit back in the mix to me.  Still love the tune and your "fire".

Hey Bob, I took another listen for the EQ.  The two mixes are pretty similar!  I think maybe the compression/limiting is masking any differences in EQ.

I still love this song.  Great track!

Great stuff Bob

I really like how the second rhythm guitar enters after the first two lines of the verse, it completes the 'in your face' wall of sound very effectively.

Hey, Bert, how are you, buddy?  I hope you're doing great!

Thank you so much for taking time to check this one out for me, and for your very kind words of encouragement!  I'm still trying to get myself back into the swing of things after a long time away from being able to spend any time in the studio, so I truly appreciate you listening and commenting, and it means a great deal to me.

By the way, I really like your latest post "Juliette Of The Spirit", great stuff, Bert!

Thanks again, and have a great week!
Bob

Hey, Warren, Thanks for coming back for a second helping on this one and for your valuable input!

I'm thinking that in my attempt at clearing up some muddiness, I may have carved out a little too much low end on my bass track for this so it may be lacking a bit of "ooomph".  I'm going to try tweaking the EQ and also bringing the bass guitar up a notch or two to see what happens.

Thanks again for your help, friendship and support, Warren!  Have a good one, buddy!

Hey, Walt,

Thank you for coming back for a second listen and for your excellent suggestion about the possibility of the compression/limiting possibly washing things out a little bit!

After a long time off and all the changes to my normal listening devices, I thought the early mixes sounded muddy compared to the reference mixes I was using, so I carved out a ton of low end from the guitars, bass and drums, which allowed me more headroom to bump up the mastering limiter a few dBs.  Then, Mix #2 sounded way light on low end, so I beefed up the lows just a touch for the third mix.

I'm going to back off on the limiter and add a touch more lows to just the bass and raise it a little bit to see if the low end beefs up to where it sounds fuller.

Your latest song "Causality" was pure dynamite, Walt, excellent work!

Big thanks, Walt, I greatly appreciate your input!

Hey, Steve!!!  How's my "Metal Brother from Another Mother" doing?  It's FANTASTIC to see you back around on the forum!  I hope you're doing great!

Thanks so much for stopping by and giving this one a listen for me, and also for the kind words of encouragement!  I've been having a bit of a rough time trying to get back into the swing of things after a long time away from the recording and mixing process, so I'm desperately trying to get my studio "ears" back in shape.  LOL, I'll probably be bombing this place with song posts over the next few weeks trying to get my process sorted out!

I always look forward to your good input and observations on my stuff and greatly appreciate your friendship and support!

Have a great week, buddy and please keep in touch!

Hi Bob,

Listened to mix#3.

In terms of tonality, nothing  bothers me. I think you have got it close as you want, wouldnt worry too much.

At 2:00, just to throw it out there, a few more squealing bending dischorded guitar notes delayed in the background to give an atmostphere and simplify the drums there, maybe just a straight forward quarter note kick drum and open hi-hat.

Its amazing when you aim to make an album how ones production and mixing tightens up very quickly. You need the pressure to improve

Hey, Cian, how are you, my friend, hope you're doing well!

Thanks for stopping by to give this a listen for me and for your valuable input, observations and good suggestions!

I'm grateful for the fact that you think I'm getting pretty close mix-wise, because LOL, after the last few weeks I'm ready for a sanity check!  It's really hard to get back into the swing of things after a long period off and lots of changes to my listening systems.

You're definitely 100% right about the pressure of having to get an album finished making you kick into gear and come out swinging again, I'm hoping to be up to the task again soon!

Thanks again for checking this out for me, I truly appreciate your input, friendship and support!

Have a great week, brother!

Hey, Grant, how are you, buddy?  Hope you're having a great week!

Thank you so much for coming back for a second listen on this one, I really appreciate your input, observations and encouraging words, and I value your input highly!

Hey, I just want to mention that you did a killer job on "The Everyday Blues" with Ed and Reece, fantastic blues guitar playing and full, rich tone!  It's really great to hear your excellent playing back on the forum again!

Thanks again, Grant, and have a super week!

Mix #4 Up - 8-26-15

Backed off the limiter a bit, beefed up the low end and boosted the bass guitar a touch, hope it's getting closer!

Thanks again to everybody!
