PreSonus FaderPort with Windows 8 and X2

Does anyone have any success using the PreSonus FaderPort with X2 and Windows 8 64 bit? I know that there were a lot of issues with X1/Win 7 so I was wondering if they have been resolved yet.

FP does not work here with win 7, 32, 64, win 8 64.

I figger it is the EMU interface midi drivers.

Prolly driver conflict with other audio interfaces is the culprit.

Even when I can get it to work for a session, It does not control buses.

    Very annoying.

But:   it does work when using Reaper, and Studio1.

So, something to do with Sonar's implementation of midi stuff.

And: had repeated computer hangs yesterday when attempting to enable LoopMIDI ports in Sonar 8.5.3, and X2a, with win 8.

    No problem with win 7.

What's the benefit of using this thing? I mean...I also use Studio One 2 and have once loaded FaderPort but didn't quite know when to use it.

I have Win7, 32-bit, X2a, and Faderport works perfectly.... after you do the crazy install patch.

    Cheers!

I think it depends upon the MIDI interface drivers, and sonar's interaction with such.

    Works with buses?

I figgered I would have to use ACT to get the FP to behave properly.

Thanks to all for the feedback. The FaderPort sounds a bit flakey having to do "the crazy install patch" as well as other quirks so I think I'll pass on it for now. I think I'll take a closer look at the Mackie Universal.

Hmmm.. I've never had the occasion to use it on a bus... so I just tried it.  The bus does not respond to the FP.  Maybe by design...?

I use mine all the time, especially for the transport... and even more so when I am recording my guitar playing... it is my Remote transport mechanism.

    Cheers!
