PreSonus Studio 192 and Windows 10
Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had any success running studio 192 and windows 10. I have been trying for about a week now with no success, not much help from there forum. I have a open ticket with tech support trying to work out this issue for 3 days now with the frimware update, also ran a Belarc report for them. There seems to be some major issues with there frimware and App "UC",by the way I also hooked the interface into my wifes iMac with the same results. At this point it just a $900 paper weight with lighs and a few knobs.

What sort of issues are you having? What FW version are you using? Do the FW and UCS version numbers match? Can you even get that far to check? I have a 192 running well on Win7 sp1 but I was going to upgrade to Win 10 so I'd like to know what you're experiencing. You haven't seen much about it in the P forum because it seems to work well... (I know mine does)

Hello Karyn thank you for you quick response, I have the UC app installed "Version 1.4.3.35573" on my PC with usb 3 drivers, I have ran the firmware update on UC app to update the Studio 192 and when I open up the mixer section and look at the drivers page it said my firmware version is invalid "DSPv(invalid)/Bootloader v1.0, Then on the next line it said the new version DSPv1.2-22/Bootloaderv17 but it wont update. It takes about 30 for the power button to trun to a solid blue, the Uc app can see the 192 it just doesn't update the firmware.

This is a long shot because I think it only affects macs, but have you tried plugging it into a USB 2 socket?

Are the USB3 ports on your motherboard Intel USB3 ports... or 3rd-party controller? 3rd-party USB3 controllers cause many issues with audio/MIDI interfaces. (Similar to using a non-TI chipset Firewire controller with a Firewire audio interface)

Hello Jim, I gave you Ideal try and plug straight into the motherboard but it did not solve the problem. I do have a 3rd party controller onthe front of My Pc and intel on the board it was a good Ideal. I went to intels site to make sure the drivers where up to date and they where.

The reason I asked specifically if the USB3 controller was Intel: Prior to Z77 chipset motherboards, literally *all* USB3 controllers (though they were on the motherboard) are 3rd-party USB3 controllers. Prior to Z77 chipset motherboards, USB3 had not yet been integrated into the Intel chipset. IOW, If you're using a motherboard older than a Z77, your USB3 controller is a 3rd-party controller.

I would try disabling USB 3 support in the BIOS if it's a recent board.

Geez, this sounds like the exact problem they had with the 1818VSL which is now defunct. You would think PreSonus would be more diligent about their compatibility testing. PreSonus makes some great affordable hardware, but their software/driver support sucks. I'm not sure if they outsource their driver coding, but most of their software dollars are going into Studio One development and not in to their own products. The sad thing is, they've made some great interfaces, but their lack of driver support makes them useless to customers. People are going to upgrade their computers and OS'es, if PS can't keep up with compatibility and software sustaining, they need to get out of the hardware business.

This interface seems to be having some growing pains, which is common for a new product but I agree with you denverdrummer one would think Presonus learned their lesson after the VSL fiasco we all remember. There is a huge thread over on the GS board regarding horrible latency. An interface without solid drivers is going to be nothing but problematic no matter how innovative it is. You can have the greatest pre-amps and converters but if the unit keeps crashing or has poor performance it becomes a huge headache. I think the problem lies with companies farming out the driver development to 3rd party firms like DICE or TheSycon instead of keeping it in house like I believe RME does. They lose control and end up with a generic driver that may work but isn't as optimized for the specific hardware as it could be It's just a thought.
