Preference menu text

trying to figure out why the text of some options in my pref menu are now white... (the menu choices on the left column) and can't be seen with the white background. Only certain selections are vissble. any clues? thanks in advance

    I've seen that when using the High Contrast Mode in Windows.
     
    To switch High Contrast Mode on/off press:
     
    left Alt+left Shift+Print Screen

    thanks so much for the tip. I'm away from the lab at the moment. but i will definitely do it when I get back. thanks again
