    I'm sorry, I can't touch pregnant women…

I'm pretty sure Mariah has a crush on me. She want’s it, but she won’t get it…

When women get pregnant? They typically go “insane…” Good luck sir.

Congratulations on the forthcoming new band member. If you think your life is insane now, just you wait until you hear "child logic". And then "teenager logic".

But to address your immediate concern, your survival depends on whether or not you are able to adapt to your surroundings, like the leopard with his spots, or the chameleon who can change his colors. You also need to learn how to take lots of little tiny cat naps. With one eye open. Or both eyes open. A useful skill to have at this stage in your life, no doubt.

It's hormones... the insanity comes with them, but the joy of fatherhood makes it all worthwhile...

Just don't make the mistake I did: when my wife was about 7 months along with our twins (and being ...um... difficult), I referred to her as "Attila the Hormone."

I was very nearly maimed beyond repair.

We're all fine now. The twins just turned 5.

    Congratulations!

When preggy, my wife told me she would never, ever forgive me for not thinking of her when I told her I bought an ice cream on the way home from a business trip. Even the fact that I told her I bought it before I set out on the journey home 3 hours earlier didn't seem to alter the terrible "selfish" thing I had done. This of course was the planting of the seed of the "ice cream fetish" which lasted approximately 7 months and had to be catered for at all times night and day. I thought the baby would be born with a chocolate flake sticking out of his head. Don't worry Sven, go with the flow....

I wish, cause they've just started producing Ben & Jerry's for 7-Eleven up here.

No it's a bit more dire. We bought a house in early January, which we were in complete agreement on and has everything I could want in a house, like a dedicated studio, giant sunny balcony and automatic dishwasher.

Lately she's been having second thoughts (read: torments of anguish) and now it looks like we'll be selling it before we even move in...

Learn to say yes and not argue. And be happy you're not the one who is pregnant. And when she asks if she is fat or whatever say "you are glowing, more beautiful than ever," or your own variation thereof. It is the least you can do for her. All the above will make your life so much easier about 6 months after the birth when both of you (hopefully) are getting sleep.

    Have fun.

    Solid advice.

In a few months, your wife is going to conjure up more strength than you could ever hope to possess and push your child out into the world while you stand there feeling like a weak, helpless man. Trust me - it will be a very enlightening experience and when you look back on the previous 9 months, it will all somehow make sense.

Sven, ironically I visited a friend and his girlfriend after work Saturday.. I hadn't even installed sonar 8.3 and that delayed it.. (only joking.. I'm really not that bad)
my friend rang me just now, said thanks for the gift..

when I was there their new son was so quiet, but my friend and his other half looked shattered.. The grand mother was there also and I normally get an ear bashing because although I keep in touch with my friend, must be a good 1-2 years since I visited.

Apparently at 3-4am he kicks off.. so my friend has had next to no sleep. because he was premature, they have to feed him every 2 hours and my friend just got back to work today.

my friend however feels a bit neglected with their new arrival and jokes about it. I would say enjoy what sleep you get currently , because the first 4(?) months after you might not find you get too much.

just be thankful you don't have to give birth or have to feed the baby.. we do get off a bit lightly compared to women in some ways.

I'm not a parent, dunno if I will ever be and I'm at the age where people at work are telling me to find a nice girl, get married etc. (don't start singing cat stevens..hehe)

I'm sure Ed and many more might have good advice about the subject... although I was joking about a "jews harp" patch Ed.. I've actually found one in dimension pro

The good thing about pregnancy, Ed, is that it's over in 9 months. Menopause can go on for years. Literally!

Sven - and no offense ladies but you know it is true - women start marginally insane to begin with.

If you think it is bad now, just wait for the change once she is a mother. Yep, be prepared to be #5 in the family - lower if you have dogs.

You would think infant mortality rates were like 95%

Ironic...I regularly joke with my wife that as long as I remain in the "top 5" of her interest/importance scale I'm OK. She doesn't act amused when I say that but to be honest, there is some truth there. Oh....and we do have a dog...and a horse. I believe the relative importance list typically goes like this:

    1. Kids
    2. Horse
    3. Dog
    4. Me
    5. J.D. Robb or Louis L'Amore books

Half the time I believe 4 and 5 are swapped....but I still take solace in being in the "Top 5".
