Premier Guitar vid using Sonar x3

Just came across this great Youtube vid showing four different techniques to mic an acoustic, and I was surprised (and excited) to see they were using Sonar X3 at Rainfeather Studios in Nashville.  No DAW action till the M-S technique at end.... Enjoy!

Thanks. Great vid. I wish I had a better mic selection.

+1   That was a nice straightforward video showing the differences between mic placement (particularly M/S).   Oh, and nice DAW too.

All I need now is a matched set of LDCs, a SDC or two, a mic with an omni pattern...

Yanno... I've known about all of these techniques for a while from various articles and vids but this is the most concise and helpful by far. The audio on it is excellent and you can REALLY hear the effect the different techniques have whereas ones I've seen before it was hard to really get an idea of the differences. I don't have the greatest mics so little things like this are helpful. Fortunately I do have a matched pair of condensers so I can actually try this stuff.

I'm kind of wondering if some of these concepts can help with my vocals too which generally sound not so pro because of the low grade mics. I already use two mics anyway to beef things up.

One of the Bakers did a really nice article on mic'ing acoustic guitars for the CakeBlog a while back (Dan?). I'll see if I can dig it up.

    Ah... here it is:

There is another one over on Groove3 for anyone who is a member. I don't have a link for that one or have access at the moment but dig around if this is something you're interested in.

The Premier Guitar vid gave me plenty to shoot for.  Unfortunately, like many, my options for those cool techniques are seriously limited by my pitiful mic collection....
