Presonus Audiobox USB = is USB 1.1 OK?

Researching an interface for my 20 yr old grand niece, and came across some nicely priced 'bundles' from Presonus.
The interface was an  Audiovox USB. But reading the specs it said it was USB 1.1.
I thought USB 2.0  would  pretty much be the standard (and USB 3 coming on), so I'm hesitating  on recommending this.

Focusrite also had a bundle that I already recommended. But the Presonus can be $50 less money, and she's on a budget.
I insisted that she get something with MIDI so a keyboard can be added.

She will be using this on a Mac Book Pro. A budding singer songwriter!
Any help with this recommending something with USB 1.1?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

The USB 1.1 interface should have no problem connecting to a USB 2 port, and will provide more than adequate throughput for a singer-songwriter.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

That's true. Just be aware that plugging a 1.1 device into a USB 2 hub will take the entire hub down to 1.1 speeds.

My church bought the Presonus Audiobox USB to record sermons from the sound desk and publish them online.  It works absolutely fine - we use it at 44.1KHz with a Windows 10 laptop.  I'm sure you'll be alright with it; I had the same concerns about USB 1.1 when it was purchased and would've been fully prepared to send it back, but we've had no problems.

many complaints, hence the low price on the Audiobox for its inability to handle DI guitar signals without clipping (there's no pad button) I almost laughed when support told my friend this could be remedied by purchasing a DI box.
he instantly returned it for a Focusrite Safire 212.
Read up on it. you'll see what Im talking about.

I've had both the presonus and the focusrite... I would opt for the focusrite... maybe grandpa can front her the extra $50!  ...wink

I think I'll stick with the original recommendation of the FR 2i4. I own a Pro 24 & a 18i8 so I'm familiar with the Focusrite products and can help get it set up.
Seems that the Presonus will work OK, but the throttling down and no pad factors may hinder expansion of what she wants to do in the future.

I know that she will want a way to connect with MIDI, probably sooner than later. Hence the future proofing...

    Thanks again!

PS  I gave he dad $100 1.5 yrs ago to get Cakewalk Artist so he could lay some e-drum tracks down for me. But he's been on disability and his laptop broke. So I told him to contribute that money for his daughter's rig. He will do!

    ya Michael,
if she plans on doing any kind of DI work using a guitar this will definitely be an issue as it was for us.
(me and a bandmate) im sure if you search the cakewalk site you can find my thread from a while back.
It was a mind blower. support told us to purchase a DI box Or lower the volume knob on the guitar) which is totally asinine.

With being said, I have used several of Focusrite's units and have had very good results. those results include buffer rates, latency returns and driver support (putting out new drivers when new OS are released).

you can buy a used Saffire 212 for under 70 bucks
