it really depends on your needs.

as for the presonus audiobox - 18 I/O is a little misleading (but all companies do that, not just presonus).  there's only 8 analog I/O, the rest are digital.

the octacapture has been getting a lot of good feedback on the forums.

Steinberg has a usb version of their (and yamaha's) mr firewire interface.  I'd wait to see if it uses the same technology and the price.  The FW unit seems to be the lower cost leader.  Nothing wrong with Presonus except the preamps in their older stuff were a little weak.  And I have used the Roland stuff - the vs series - and the octa-capture is pretty much the same.  That is good stuff.  I cant comment on the Focusrite since I haven't used it but it should be right there.

Whatever you do, be able to return the unit you buy to replace it.  The specs should be close enough that the real question is finding one whose drivers work w/ your system.

Well I got the Scarlett and it is outstanding but then again, it depends on your need. No experience with the other though.
