Presonus and Cakewalk

I don't know if this is the proper place for my question but.....
I have a Presonus Firebox that has a breakout cable for midi. I have connect my keyboard midi cables to it.
I cannot get any input thru it to cakewalk.

The person at Presonus says I have to set up cakewalk to get the midi in. Nothing I've tried works. The mike/instruments input works fine.
Any ideas on what I should do?
Thanks

Open Sonar, go to OPTIONS-MIDI DEVICES and select the presonus input and output. Then go back to track veiw and load or select a midi track. In input make sure you select the presonus midi as the input device and then output it to wherever you want it to go, like a soft synth or what have you. Good luck with it, nothing presonus makes plays very well with Sonar with out some tweaking.

Do you REALLY care what system Im running?

Yeah, the physical cable is the first part. Telling SONAR you set it up is the second part.

And make sure your IN/OUT is right. I screw those up every time I unplug them.

If you've got multiple MIDI devices connected at same time you might need to move the MIDI port selection for your non-responsive device up ot the top of the list.

I hate to be a pain but it's sorta- now what.
I selected the firebox midi in and played a few notes. It worked OK.
I got out for something else and when I reopened the file I could select the firebox midi in, but then
a notice came up that I had not selected any input, which I clearly had done, and of course had no input for the midi.
Any body have an idea where I should go or so at this point.
    Thanks again.
