Presonus buy Notion..
I'm sure a number of Sonar users have suggested in the past that Cakewlak should improve their Score view and aquire or a arrange a deal with a notation company... but with pre-sonus aquiring Notion, avid buying sibelius... and with Steinberg hiring then the redundant Sibelius team, its seems people think there a demand in the market... Hope Cake have something up their sleave too......

They don't. They should have bought Notion. Users have been begging for years. Cakewalk believes notation is not important. The users asking for it have been ignored for well over a decade. You should expect this policy to continue.

The only thing you get now from CAKE is a pinch on the cheek and getting told to go play like nice kids.

I still use manuscript paper and a pencil! An eraser makes an effective undo tool But then again I am just working out parts prior to recording the midi from my keyboards. Even with a good notation package I can see using it as a note entry device.

Serious composers who use notation need it in the DAW. That's why I moved to Cubase.

The notation in Cake is a horse we all have beaten for a long time. I will say this much. I bought Notion 3 on a special offer from Cake a long while back for a reduced price. I think it was like $75. I have since gotten the free upgrade to Notion 4. With it's ReWire capability, it is a pretty strong pairing with X2. It is kind of clunky using it this way but anything would be an improvement over the notation Cake uses now. From time to time I do still plead with them to come up with some sort of integrated notation in Sonar but no luck. BTW, Presonus just bought out Notion Music, the company that makes Notion! It will be interesting to see if it is integrated into Studio One! If so, there may be a lot of guys jumping ship.

Sidroe, I've got Notion 3 around the offer.. You mentioned about free upgrade to Notion 4 ? But all I see is an upgrade fee from Notion website. Thanks.

because of how avid treated the original Sibelius London staff , I hope steiny wins out on that front.I have had dealings with avid / m-audio "support" to a point where I will not buy any of their products now. Their distribution of other makers products also in my experience was shockingly bad. I haven't tried a full studio one , so can't comment on it.. pity it's US based due to the pricing has been putting me off with companies now. there seems to be a LOT of asset stripping going on currently in pro audio companies.. much like what happened with the games industry with companies continually buying out each other for IP's . I am getting far more selective of how I upgrade my DAW stuff now, and decided I'm not paying for a load of bug fixes in things now OR empty promises.

I have Notion 4 but since is still will not record cc#64 (sustain pedal) and since it no longer works with EWQLSO Gold I never use it. I have Sibelius 7 and it is great but nothing beats having very capable notion inside Cubase 7 for composition purposes. Cubase even has some features that surpass Sibelius.

Tomixornot! I'm sorry. I misspoke. I bought Notion 4 and the free upgrade was for it. I sincerely apologize! I have had no problem recording sustain pedal in to Notion. I will see if there is a certain setting somewhere that may be off in your version. It's been a while since I had to adjust anything in the settings but I will check.
