Printing a track?
Does anyone know what the Splat equivalent of printing a track in ProTools is?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gJAwJJvz2k Printing means you take an audio tack and process it with effects and then bounce it to a new track with all the effects "printed" to tape. This was a term used in the days of tape recording. You might not have enough effect processors on hand to use during final mixdown so you "printed" the effects to a new track and then probably re used the old track. Remember, small studios only had say, 8 tracks to work with. So the idea of printing is a lost art and it's only real use I can see is for an under powered system where your trying to save CPU. We might still use the term if we add effects to a vocal or guitar and record it wet. We cannot undue the effects as they are now "printed" to the audio track.

I still need to optimize my PC for projects beyond just plain demos, I get some drop outs and other issues so I will sometimes set up my track with the pro channel settings and fx then export the audio, then will import the track in a new project where I don't have to use plugins. I've wondered if this would give me the same result of say recording my guitars in a studio that has a Trident mixer, then mixing down in a studio with a SSL board. In theory of course...

Bounce to track(s) will "print" as well without requiring real-time to do so.
ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

yea, it seems that every Protools mixing Vid uses the term"print". So you might also say that bouncing a track with FX in Splat is the same as printing in the Protools worlds. I'll give the bounce a try as well. Thanks for clearing that up! :)

Four ways that I know: Freeze, Apply effect (assuming it's still there), Bounce to clip, Bounce to track. Any recording method is so slow and tedious that I don't even consider them existing.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

"Bounce to clip". I always assumed that "bounce to clip" just welded the clips together to make one continuous track and didn't add any processing. Could someone elaborate on this?

Bounce to clip deletes any slip-edited data that is not visible at the time of the bounce. It also will apply any real-time effects that are in the clip FX bin, then remove those FX from the bin.

Hum? I thought that bounce condensed the FX & track to a new track, leaving the original track and FX in tacked?

you're confusing bounce to clip with bounce to track

It sounds like 11dreams may not realize you can add FX to a clip and that this is different from adding FX to a track.
The most common reason I do this is to add Craig's pop filter vocal FX chain to the exact moment it is needed on a clip. Split the clip around the plossive at zero crossings, drag Craig's chain to the clip, adjust to taste, bounce to clip.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
