Pro Channel / Buses / Second monitor crash

A tricky one to explain, but I know a few people had it, and I remember  thread where Noel was discussing it with us.

Anyway, I still have this problem in X3. Only on old X2 projects so far. It seems to be something to do with trying to use buses when the console is in the multi-dock and on the second monitor. Trying to use any bus controls crashes the whole program.

Has anyone figured out any pattern or workaround for this? It doesn't happen when you're first working on a project, crops up at some point, and then has a 100% crash rate from then.

I would transfer the project to a new X3 project.

That's a bummer. I have experienced this in X2 and it basically put me off the console view for mixing. I just use track view for about everything. I don't miss it much but it would be nice to have it working correctly since my control surface doesn't address my buss levels.

I've kind of got into the habit of just not using the buses in console view, but it's an annoying restriction to say the least.

Ah, hang on. I'd forgotten to install the X3b patch, which seems to have fixed it.

    Hi,

X2b did fix most of it for me. However I still saw issues if say you had CL on the master bus and CV was undocked. Working with the console between tracks and the Master bus would cause a crash. The Bakers are aware of it and were able to reproduce.  My "workaround" was to create a CV screen set if I had to do some work in that view and quickly switch back to my standard screen set when done. Not as efficient but doable.

Is that when the CV is completely undocked, as in not even in the multidock?

The way I work is have the multidock permanently undocked from the main view and maximised on the second monitor. Do you mean something different?

    Hi John,
No... Nothing different...The way that you work is the way that I have it. Except that I also have the Browser undocked and on the 2nd monitor also.

Hey, tonight while working on a project in X3 that was started in X2 recently I was able to use the Bus controls in ProChannel and other settings with a floating console view on a second monitor. If anyone cares.
