Pro Channel equalizer makes track go silent

I am having a weird problem with the Pro Channel equalizer. When I turn on the equalizer power button, the associated  track or bus falls completely silent. No signal comes through at all. The clipping indicator on the equalizer flickers, indicating that signal is reaching the equalizer, but the level meters on the track show no signal at all. Increasing the level knobs on the equalizer does nothing. Also, the display graph on the equalizer (usually) does not show anything, even when I turn the level control knobs. If I turn the equalizer off, the track sound comes back on. If I turn off all 4 of the band buttons (LF, LMF, HMF, HF) when the equalizer is turned on, the sound comes back on, but if even one of those buttons is on, the track is completely silent. The other 2 functions on the Pro Channel seem to work as they should.

Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I am running 32-bit Sonar X1b on a Windows 7 64-bit system.

It could be a problem with Pro Channel... or one of dozens of things making it appear that there is a problem with ProChannel.

Can you send in a problem report?

    Good luck,

I appear to be the only one with this problem. I can't find any other reports in the forum that match this issue. If others had experienced it, I'm sure it would be reported, since it makes the pro channel eq almost completely unusable. I'll see if tech support has any help to offer. If not, I'll attempt to reinstall Sonar and see if that helps.

Do you have a Low or High pass filter active in the EQ?  If so it you have slope on the LPF all the way clockwise OR the HPF slope all the way counterclockwise it will totally turn off all output

The problem is there regardless of whether or not the low/high pass filters are on.

Here is what appears to be happening. When a new track or bus is created, the levels for all 4 frequency bands in pro-channel eq seem to be set to minus infinity, which eliminates all output from the track and makes the bottom half of the graph display (below the center line) show up as completely shaded in. If I move the level knobs on all 4 bands, then the display changes to what you would normally see - a curved line showing deviations from the horizontal center line. But the equalizer still mutes the track completely, so the levels being applied to the track are apparently not being updated to match what is shown on the graph.

    Any ideas?

Try turning on the Tube Saturation module.

I've seen a couple of times where turning on Tube Sat kicks the PC into life, then you can turn it off again.

This has only ever happened a couple of times to me.

In case anyone else runs into this problem, here is a work-around I found. Move all 4 of the level knobs in succession until the display looks normal, and then save, close, and reopen the project. The pro channel eq then seems to work normally, except that double clicking on a level knob will kick that band back to minus infinity instead of resetting it to zero as it should.

Customer support gave me a couple of suggestions that didn't help, and then told me that they have had other similar reports and are hoping that this will be fixed in X1c.
