Pro tools and Sonar plugins

I have used Sonar for many years and had a very nice surprise when installing my educational copy of pro tools.

I discovered that my Sonar platinum installs have kindly and unexpectedly already installed the following AAX version of the following plugins and were waiting for me when I opened pro tools for the first time last night
CA-2A leveling amplifier
LPEQ 64
LPMB 64
Rapture session 64
Z3TA+2 64

The folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\Cakewalk
contains all the cakewalk AAX plugin versions.

It is nice when you occasionally find less work to do than you had expected.

Thanks cakewalk.

Quick question for anyone who may have experience of exporting Sonar project files to OMF and importing to Pro tools format. How well does this work, is it worth using or should I export wavs etc manually?

By the way, I have to say that the way Gibson have treated its customers over this is a disgrace. I will not be purchasing any further Gibson equipment from now on.

Exporting Sonar projects to OMF and importing into Pro Tools works well, but the basic limitations of OMFs apply: there's a 2 GB limit for an OMF file, you'll lose all kinds of parameters (panning, effects, etc.) but will retain other things, like track names and track order, etc.

Exporting WAV files gives you the option of retaining effects, panning, EQ, etc.  (if you 'print' the FX), but you'll manually have to create track names, put the tracks in order, etc.

So I think it depends on what you want to do.  I've done both, depending on the situation.

Sonar Platinum x64 on Win10 64, Dell T7400 w/ 8 Xeon cores, 8 Gbyte RAM, 3 hard drives, RME Fireface UFX, UAD-1, Mackie Control, Adam A7X
