I don't have those interfaces but I do use a M-Audio midi interface that connects to my PC via USB. Works fine with PA9 on WinXP. I would think that the two interfaces you mention would work fine.
But do you need another interface? Maybe there is a setup issue with the SB card? I don't use the SB Audigy 2 zs so I don't know what it can and can't do.
Is it possible that the SB card can handle the digital input or the analog input but not both at the same time? If the SB user manual doesn't tell you, you could do an experiment of trying the analog inputs only.
In PA9, under Options>Audio... Drivers tab, what drivers show in the Input Drivers list? Make sure you have any you want to use "selected" (click to highlight). It is not good enough for them to be listed -- they must also be selected.
