ProAudio 9 and Audio MIDI Interfaces

Hello. I am new to the forums.

I purchased ProAudio 9 several years ago and have had some success and some failure with two workstations. I have a Kurzweil 2600xs and a Roland XP80. My PC uses WinXP Professional with 1GB RAM. The soundcard is an SB Audigy 2 zs with a front drive bay.

The Kurweil can record both MIDI and Audio using the fiber optics, but the Roland has Analog Audio only and ProAudio can't find any of the Line In's for that card.

I have seen recently on Cakewalk's webpage some products they now sell which are the UA-1G USB Audio Interface, and the UM-1G USB MIDI Interface. Will any of these hardware devices work with ProAudio 9?

    I don't have those interfaces but I do use a M-Audio midi interface that connects to my PC via USB. Works fine with PA9 on WinXP. I would think that the two interfaces you mention would work fine.

    But do you need another interface? Maybe there is a setup issue with the SB card? I don't use the SB Audigy 2 zs so I don't know what it can and can't do.
    Is it possible that the SB card can handle the digital input or the analog input but not both at the same time? If the SB user manual doesn't tell you, you could do an experiment of trying the analog inputs only.

    In PA9, under Options>Audio... Drivers tab, what drivers show in the Input Drivers list? Make sure you have any you want to use "selected" (click to highlight). It is not good enough for them to be listed -- they must also be selected.

    I would check the "out" of both workstations as to being set or required as same. Pro 9 doesn't relate to brands as much as settings. You could also try setting an XP "previous working " setting date. Just create one via START/HELP/ Previous known and or "RESTORE POINT" Create a NEW restore point, then, REINSTALL Pro Audio 9 and reset everything to SEE the same settings. If that doesn't work, just RESTORE the old settings using "Last known working date".

    Thx for the responses back.

    I'm in the process of moving at the moment so it will be some time before I can get to Cakewalk again. I'll look into some of those tips to see if the Analog Audio issue can finally be corrected when I get some free time.

    yep
     
    the midi card though you might have to turn off "advanced mode" for the midi, then it'd work without issue.        
     
    audio interface will be fine , if it has drivers.. then no probs and you also get the LE version of sonar with it. which I'm guessing is more up to date

    OK. I know this post is old now, but my PC took a crap on me back in August when I moved and I just now was able to rescue my RAID array to have access to all this info on this PC.
     
    Just recently I came across the Edirol UA-25EX and discovered that this was the predecessor to the Hardware interface that Cakewalk started using for Sonic Power Studio 250. Back when I asked the question about the UA-1G and the UM-1G I was actually more interested in the interface that came with the Power Studio but didn't want to see my PA9 just go to waste since I paid good money for it.
     
    Is it correct to say that the Roland Edirol UA-25EX is fully compatable with Cakewalk using WinXP SP3?
     
    I'm getting the strong impression that it is.

    Sorry for the doublepost, I don't see an edit button.
     
    For clarity: My question about compatability is for the UA-25EX and the Pro Audio 9 using WinXP SP3.
     
    I'm running an AMD 64 X2 4600+ on an ASUS A8V Deluxe currently with 1 GB PC3200 but soon will have it maxed at 4GB PC3200 and a RAID configuration for performance using 2 80GB SATA DMA150 and an added Ultra DMA IDE 120GB Storage drive with a Pioneer DVR-108 DVDRW and a GEForce 6800GT (soon to be upgraded to a 7950GT AGP8x) and a Creative SB Live Platinum Audigy 2 ZS.
