I'm interested to know if it was coded strictly in-house or if they enlisted the help of a 3rd party.

I don't get it. The Pro Channel IS a console emulator. So they are going to put a console emulator inside a console emulator?

Well If I can make my recordings sound like they came off a Neve board, I'll take it...I need more details please, but this sounds like a definite advancement in "in the box"recordings. I'm really curious about this !!

Advancement? Neve EMU has been around for years now. I enjoy your enthusiasm, and it's better to be positive than negative of which I'm guilty of a lot of the time, but saying Cakewalk offering a Console Emulator that nestles in the Pro Channel is an "advancement in "in the box"recordings" is hysterical. I'm greatly looking forward to X2 myself, but I'm not excited to the point where I start making things up ... @ampfixer ... +1 Edited for grammar.

The Pro Channel IS a console emulator. So they are going to put a console emulator inside a console emulator? I look at the PC as a "console strip" for whatever that's worth. For example, the Quad Curve EQ is meant to emulate multiple classic console EQ, while the Comps are based on Urie and SSL (one of which is a console). And then there's Saturation... Great, now I've talked myself into being a little more confused than I was. I guess I still see a difference between the two, but I would also like to know more about how this new Console Emulation is meant to complement the existing modules. Hmmm... The Steven Slate and Waves plugs were mentioned - how would one use those along side EQs and Comps?

It's not hysterical at all..."in the box" recording technology has come a long way over the last ten years or so... this sounds like a new advancement to me. Compare today's digital recordings to ones that were made ten years ago, there's a world of difference. Ten years from now, who knows what ...10 years ago most people never heard of 64 bit....

It is hysterical for you to claim that Cakewalk offering a console emulator in X2 is an "advancement in "in the box"recordings". especially when there is already one in X1 ... "ProChannel Expanded can emulate the classic, British, "4K" console, used to make thousands of hit records, right inside of SONAR - but with added flexibility. Swap out EQ types, change routing, and customize your virtual, "4K" console down to each individual channel and bus." It's a great new tool ... I can't wait to try it out, but it's certainly not an advancement when 10 other vendors have offered the same thing for years already. Hey, I'm with you ... I can't wait to try this out but telling everyone it's an advancement in ITB recording, that's stretching it quite far. :)

Yeah, they're certainly not the first on the block with stuff. But, they might be the first on the block with everything that the PC in X2 seems to offer... IOW, what you can do in the box right out of the box.

Hi, as far as I understood, the PC can now change the characteristic sound- color: A -Api consol N - Neve consol S-Ssl consol aso Consol sounds with different eq, compr.,saturation aso, so that it is possible , to change the basic sound of the DAW like using different analog mixers.

(pronounced ahh as in, stick your tongue out and say ahh) But you do have it now kind sir! :) Go throw the Sonitus Comp on a track, click 'Presets', click 'Vintage', and voila! You'll have more Neve's, Teletronix, dbx's, and 1176's than you can shake a stick at. :) All in 64bit screaming glory! :) Aged to perfect for well over 10 years now. :) I have to admit though, the new Console Emu in X2 looks a lot cooler than any so far. :)
