Problem Reports vs Our Reports Here

As much as our reports about problems may or may not help other users here, I highly doubt that Cakewalk personnel are actually scouring this forum for information.  I think they're letting us vent our frustration with what should have been a far better follow-up to X1.  They know it full well.

There's no real way that they can trace a global or individual problem that's reported by one of us, even if we tell them in our signature about all of our hardware and software.  What they're looking for are those reports that come up when the software freezes and says that it wants to send something to Cakewalk.  It's a sad and impotent way to have your software tested when you already know it's not ready to be released but you're being pushed by the people who have the money.

I bought a brand new laptop just to install X2 Producer and I'm still having problems with things as simple as trying to use Session Drummer.  I'm sick of it.  I'm tired of it.  I think Sonar should hand me back all of my money until there is a bug-free edition of what I paid for.  Would you pay for a brand new car with no tires and no stereo?  That's basically what I have after buying Sonar X2 and a brand new laptop.  Now what do I do?

It's real nice that Cakewalk wants to give us some free stuff every month for being nice guys, but how 'bout we just get what we paid for?  If you owe a man a buck, you pay a man a buck.  I just saw that on TV, but it's the truth.

When will we get what we paid for with NO EXCUSES?

Sincerely,

Duke Starbuckle

Duke, your opinion is very emotional. It's true, the forum does not exist for Cakewalk to check up on the quality of their software programming. It is merely a place where users can tap into the vast knowledge of all the other users of the software.

It sounds like you have a whole history of problems using Cakewalk products, but you only have 12 posts.
The problems you mention in your post are not specific enough for anyone to be able to help you.

There are many users here with incredible technical knowledge, I'm sure you can find answers to why things aren't working if you just define your issues a little more. Or are you just venting today ?

Actually, you can do a search for Noel's name, and see he pops into quite a few threads.  He is the Chief Technology Officer for Cakewalk.

There are other posts by various other Cakewalk folks too.

I am just getting ready to take a nap for about 45 minutes, and then I will be back to trying to help folks in the forum with whatever issues I can help with.  (I've been up since about 3 this morning).

If you can perhaps detail your SD3 problems, I PROMISE you that I will attempt to help you in about 1 hour.

OK? So I will look for your reply with info on your situation,

    Bob Bone

Well, I had a nice nap, and came back to this thread hoping to be able to help you with your SD3 problems, and possibly whatever other ones have gotten you so worked up.

Since there has not yet been any further post from you with details on your problem, there is nothing I, or anyone else, can do for you - until you respond with additional detail.

I WILL check back on this thread in about 5 hours, as I will now go back to bed.  I did make sure to wake up and check to see if you had provided that info I had asked for earlier, as I wanted to honor my promise to make myself available to help you.

A little info on what problems you are experiencing will help others help you to hopefully get it sorted.

The fact that lots of people use it without an issue (including me) tends to suggest that it must be fixeable for you to.

Post up some more detail and I'm sure you'll get a whole load of help.

I've been using CW since about pro audio 5.  Every time there's a new release (and this release is no exception)... the CW employees are pretty active on this board.  I don't think they scientifically monitor what's going on on the board, but they're active and lurking.  I'm pretty sure, especially now, when they're essentially using us as beta testers, that they're following the board.  At least they're following the complaints that resonate w/ a lot of folks.

    Peace,

    Ian

Duke, you sound pretty frustrated. How long have you been a Sonar/Cakewalk user? Have you used a DAW before? As others have asked here, what exactly your problems? SD3 is a relatively simple VST to use and is pretty stable and I've never heard a bad word about it here since I became more active here myself this summer.

Sorry.  Just venting.  I have certain expectations of something new like this but should have waited until the first few service packs came out, just like I would with a new version of Windows.  That's just my fault.

But thanks for coming and offering help.  When I have more composure and more details I'll certainly be back to ask you guys.  Thanks for your patience.
