Problem: Sonar x1 LE, Stretching audio element duration

Hello.

I have imported a waveform file into my Sonar project. Now I'd need to stretch (or compress) it (without changing the pitch) to match a different element in duration. I've found instructions that selecting the Smart editing mode and CTRL+dragging the audio element in the track editor should act as an audio tempo changer. But: it does not. All i am able to get is standard cropping of the element, as if CTRL was not pressed at all. I'd like to do this with the track editor (as in not by inputting numbers to determine how long i want the clip to end up as or sliding duration percentages up and down), so that it'd be easy for me to see when the lengths of my audio elements match; thus playing through together.

Thank you in advance,
Jaakko

UPDATE EDIT:
I've now found out that the Process menu contains a "Length" option, which does work for stretching/compressing the audio element, but the by-the-percentage adjust is just wayyyy too coarse for any actual aligning of audio element durations.

There is another active thread about stretching here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3309567

While it starts out discussing an older DAW, I am pretty sure the capabilities of X1LE are similar.

Scook: Thank you. Read through the discussion you posted, good stuff, not solving the issue i'm having, though... Perhaps i'll use a 3rd party software to pre-stretch the wav and just import it already at correct length.

Sorry for clonepost, i thought the search function doesn't work on this forum. Seems that it does now that i've registered
